Honestly it does require a good computer google what exactly you need. If you have to ask its probably time for an upgrade. The game however is by far the best first person shooter war thriller. Call of duty is like a good of the past once you dig into BF3.

From what I've researched, you'll need at least 8GB DDR3 RAM, a quad core intel second generation processor or comparable AMD processor, a great GPU, and when I say great, I mean like a GTX 580 or better to turn everything up, including anti-aliasing and keeping the game running a smooth 40+ FPS.

I have basically those specs, besides the graphics card, and run the game fine even on large servers. Not really sure what my settings are at, but they seem to be decently up there, higher end of medium maybe, and I get a good enough framerate for things to not be choppy. My graphics card cost about $100-$150ish (Radeon HD 6850), about a third of the GTX 580.

Initially game starts slow. Going through the basic motions of a generic shooter at first, but then once the game has offered you time to get acquainted with the mechanics, I kicks into high gear. The graphics are wonderful, the character models are great.
