steam Steam Issue

The other day i tried to log on and it said my password was invalid or my username did not exist. I have it on autolog on so i know thats not the case. I tried many times and then tried to change my password and i never got the email that would have been sent. I went to the steam site and tried to log on there and it didnt let me and then when i typed in my email for them to send it, it went through. I changed my password and it still wouldn't let me log in. So i submitted a ticket and told them everything and they email me back asking for my cd key. I legitimately bought the game back in 05, i still have the box and the cd's but i can't find the key anywhere. I can't do anything until i either find it or i guess buy a new account. Anyone know an alternate place on the box with the key instead of the sheet thing they give you or another way to get my account unblocked? Or am i just shit out of luck and have to get a new account?

I emailed them back and forth a few times and they finally found out that my account had been hijacked so they reset everything and gave me a new password and all of that stuff. So i got my account back luckily
