Does a good mouse really make a difference? |
|
Right now I have a Microsoft Intellipoint. It is an okay mouse, it gets the job done. ------------------- -------------------- // end of main return 0; }

My current mouse doesn't work as well as my older mouse, so when it comes to clicking sometimes the game doesn't get my instructions properly. I'm probably going to pick up a new mouse soon, for the same reason I would pick up a new controller -- a game is no fun if you can't control your character. -------------------

A good mouse certainly makes a difference. Many cheap optical mice tend to skip and stutter when moved too fast which of course causes a huge problem, especially for FPSes. For RTSes, many people prefer the old school ball mice because it is a bit more tactile, which is important for many gamers when it comes to making precise clicks at high speeds. -------------------

One thing to keep in mind when you have a mouse, is that if you are working with a laser one, the surface you place it on makes all the difference. I have a desk with this shiny stuff all over it and it caused issues with my older mouse, so always keep it on a mousepad. -------------------

I've found my gaming mouse to make gaming a lot easier. It's definitely more comfortable and shaped to enhance your gaming experience. The response is better than normal mouses as well. It's not a requirement to have a gaming mouse to play games well, but at least having a decent mouse does the trick. Using a cheap mouse can make things less enjoyable. ------------------- ![]() Alba Gu Brath! ![]()

A nice mouse mat really works wonders too. I was shocked as anything when I first put my G7 onto my Z-Board mat, glided along like liquid. Pure heaven. ------------------- ![]() xbl/psn: CelesLeonhart

For anyone who is looking for a great gaming mouse I highly recommend the Logitech G9. It looks weird, but the shape fits average-large hands perfectly. I've used the Logitech MX510, G5 and G7 in the past but the G9 blows them all away. The interchangeable grips are awesome and it has the weight changing system from the G5/7. -------------------

I like quite a few mouses from Razer. Comfortable, nice shape, good weight and very responsive. Plus they look awesome too! ------------------- ![]() Alba Gu Brath! ![]()

The biggest thing I can suggest to the casual gamer moving from an optical mouse is to get at least a mouse thats 1800 dpi and is running an infrared or laser engine on it. But be sure to team it with a nice quality mouse pad if your unsure how the mouse will perform on your desks surface. ------------------- ![]()
