Gifting wasn't broken, it was just tedious (and stupid).
You were meant to be able to give any hired pawn a full set of equipment. The reason this wasn't working for many people was because the system has way too many checkpoint processes that need to be cleared for everything to get picked up by the server and properly registered. Here's the steps.

0- Backup your save to a flash drive, psp, psvita, or other device (cloud storage/PS plus)
1- Both players likely have to be online and signed into the game to make both connections 'live'. May not be required but that's the safety I used here.
2- Player one equips all the stuff they want to trade onto Player 2's pawn. You can trade 1 item for every slot you can toss something onto.
3- With the items equipped, player 1 visits an inn and rests. This establishes server checkpoint 1. (accessing server)
4- Player exits the inn and heads into the nearest rift. Checkpoint 2 (accessing server)
5- Player releases player 2's pawn. On this test I did not give an item here, not sure if it matters though. All I did was add the comment and rating. Pawn releases and initiates checkpoint 3. (accessing server)
6- Player 1 returns to an inn and rests for the final checkpoint (accessing server).

Not sure if step 6 is required, but by doing so it's ensuring the server knows that the pawn isn't in your party anymore.

The server has to properly read all those checkpoints (or most) to completely register that items from player 1 are now on player 2.

Player 2 waits 1-5 minutes after player 1 signals (chat) that the process is over and done with. Then player 2 rests at an inn for their server update. "Pawn has returned from yada yada yada".
All the gear you traded lists on the gift list. You then have the option to revert to the gear set you had before player 1 edited the loadout, sending the new stuff automatically to storage, or use the new loadout.

Done.


So feel free to equip whatever the hell you want on any ally pawns you hire.

Still have to run the test a few more times and see if there are other restrictions, like 1 day trade per person or something other.

Just note that all gear items in the game have a hidden 'level expectancy'. If you try to wear uber gear on your level 5 Arisen then you are going to end up with stamina penalties of some sort. Forgot what the official guide said but I think it makes any stamina related abilities drain even more power until you level enough to meet or surpass the hidden level requirements. To note, when you pass level 40-45ish you trump the built in level expectancy.



Edit: After further testing I can verify they do have an anti-spammer measure in place. Repeated trading turns all your traded items into rocks. LOL..

Yep, straight up rocks. On the second test I tried another full set of equipment and it was transmuted into 2 rocks. It states my PSN username and character as the host of that party as well, so it confirmed that they do penalize excessive trading. Don't want people trading all the Ur Dragon loot too soon I guess. =P

Tried sending stuff to 3 other alts from that same main character that did the initial trade and rocks galore. Tried trading between two of the other alts and the first time 2 others traded it went off just fine. Once more, rocks again. Now just have to see how long the lockout is - whether it's daily, weekly, etc. Hoping it's just daily, because otherwise it would mean you're still going to be limited in what you can equip a hired pawn. (Stick with the buddy system and dump items onto people you know, or people who really really really really could use an upgrade).

Edit: Now this was done with save backups in place. What I haven't tested is WITHOUT using save backups. Maybe every piece of gear you obtain has an id value that is read by the server as duplicated if you restore a backup save, resulting in a null value, thus... rocks. When I get home I'm going to have to test out if the same thing works consistently if using straight up never-worn newly purchased store items, as those id values likely won't be recycled. Ugh...should have tested that last night but was too tired. D:

Pretty sure it's because the host tried to gift the same person twice in a day. I can live with that. Means I can pass an item from pawn A, have A send to B, B to C, etc. Obviously it's a ridiculously drawn out process and with the way loot works (saving in front of a loot box and reloading to get better loot), it's not really going to be 'required' for anybody, especially once you have some experience under the belt and can farm items with a new character.

If you can backup your file, you can send gear and just delete the save you sent it from and re-upload your backup. Nothing but pawn data is saved on the server and even those are temporary saves.

It's not against forum rules to trade ingame items on the forum. I deleted the post because spammers have been flooding the forums with similar requests and I try to catch them pretty quick. When I deleted yours it was more "to be on the safe side" because you specifically left out ID/GT information and told potential traders to contact you by e-mail. If you wish to create item trade threads on the forums, it's perfectly fine.

Some of the gear you initially requested can be bought from Claxton if you give him the silver idol. If you know what chest drops the item you want, you could also try saving in front of it and opening the chest to get the item.

Most, if not all, the people posting on neoseeker are very helpful. People are just more inclined to help if you're offering up something as well or help a lot on these forums already.

Or even better to back up several of your saves in an archived and labeled folder on your pc (IE: Save before the final boss)

Probably won't have to fret long though. At the E3 expo it's been announced that Game Genie is making a return, but this time it won't be a ram based hacking device, but rather a hex/dec save file editor. That means any recorded values stored on the save can be hacked and edited to serve your needs. Values stores on saves would be things like what armor is stored on slot 1 of your storage inventory. Another value could be how much gold you have. Another could be your max HP value and max stamina value (which would reset if you gain a level or equip gear that alters the base value), and also what gear you are wearing. Once Genie comes out (due out late Summer), Capcom and several dozen publishers will likely have to scramble to release patches that prevent online abuse. In any case it'll probably be a viable option to grab a Genie for your DD gear needs.

*Note, there's already such a hex editor for the Qbox360 version of DD, already in circulation.
Try and make a godly main pawn and host it online, Capcom >will< ban you. Gear hacking, probably couldn't care less.
