The Suggestion Box

Well, first and foremost. We should have a thread index now. Especially with the game release drawing near (less than two weeks, yay!).

Perhaps the index should be divided into sections. For example:

General - Would include things like the videos thread, introductions, link to the current General On/Off topic discussions, suggestion thread, etc. Yeah I know some of this stuff is stickied already, but for posterity.

Characters - Character themed threads ("Your arisen", "Your Pawn", class discussion, and character-specific discussion (as in NPCs), character design suggestions (people contribute what they think is a good design, added to a list of characters in the first post), and a pawn rating thread and directory.

Item/Crafting - Threads with guides/suggestions to equipment/item acquisition and creation, people sharing info on their best equips, suggestions for loadout. Can be a subheading of the Characters section, since they tie together pretty well.

World/Gameplay - Threads where significant points of interests (towns/forts, Easter eggs) are listed, boss discussion, list of enemies, fave/toughest battle, fave design, etc.

Naturally people make their own threads on various subjects, but if one already applies to approved threads they'll be redirected to them, once the first one is made anyway. It's just keeping certain discussions to a specific thread keeps the information and ideas in one place for convenience's sake.

Just a suggestion that you section things off a bit, since it (IMO) makes it look cleaner, and easier to navigate. Even if there are only like half a dozen threads indexed (older, closed threads notwithstanding), it would make it easier to see where a person might likely find the thread they're looking for.

Honestly, although wikis aren't nearly as active on neo as they should be, this game is ripe for one. Perhaps since you're the mod, you should suggest that one be made?

In my honest opinion thread indexes are so useless. With the new tagging system you have at your disposal now you can tag everything and it will be right there in sections for someone to find. Also with the search function you can easily find anything you are looking for. So I don't think you should even spend the time on it. Just my opinions of course.

Hmm.. well I suppose it would be better to teach newer members how to use the features already in place rather than catering on the side of ignorance.

I'll have to think on it. In the mean time, I'm going to work on getting a wiki set up. We'll need an icon for it.

Dunno how I missed the wiki link at the top of the page, I could have sworn it wasn't there before. Odd thing was, I had thought there was one already (I remember seeing that front page!).

I've never found the search feature to be nearly as reliable as indexed threads though. Still don't, even though it has been improved.

It has it's place if there isn't an index, or the index lacks the thread I'm looking for.

I do think the tagging system is the way to go here. We're trying to encourage all mods to use the feature. Even if you just get a few generic tags up and running for now to get things started. PES 2012 is pretty much the benchmark for how we want all the forums to operate in the future.
