What's the story?
Dragon's Dogma begins with the reemergence of a dragon that hasn't been seen for many years. Said dragon chooses your character (a villager, who can be male or female) as its protege of sorts. Your scaly mentor teaches you new skills throughout the game and you'll figure out exactly why he needed you to help him in the first place.
What's combat like?
As the genre indicates, battles are action-packed and party-based. Three other "pawns" or AI-controlled members will round out your crew, and each fulfills a role based on his or her character class, which we'll discuss later. Fights are filled with cinematic moments where, if you hurry, you can trigger assist moves with your squad members. You can aid fallen allies and dictate commands with the d-pad. As you fight, your buddies will shout tips at you, like where the weak point of a boss is, but there's typical battle chatter in there, too.
Read MoreThus far we know that the game centres around active action-based combat in an open fantasy world, though the developers are not referring to the game as an RPG instead placing emphasis on it being an Action/Adventure game.
There will be three classes to choose from Warrior (Typical sword and shield type), Strider (Essentially the rogue) and the Mage (Self explanatory). The player character can also be either male or female though it is not yet known whether character appearance can be customised. (Beyond armour upgrades)
The plot revolves around being taken under the wing of a dragon, the developers state that the dragon has 'taken the player's heart', little else is known about the game's plot at the moment.
Multiplayer is at the moment unconfirmed.
