split screen ?

does anybody know if the game includes spit screen ? cause i was looking forward playing with my bro if the online players get annoying

I think the reason they stopped doing splitscreen as often as they used to is so they make sure people will have to pay for online multiplayer to play with their friends. So we probably won't see much splitscreen in the future.

That's the real issue here - split screen requires a hell of a lot of work to make sure there's enough ram/vram and processing power to generate two perspectives and keep the frame rate running smoothly. On top of that, when a game is mutliplatform it means you have to make sure the experience is up to par and measured between all platforms (except PC, very few PC games even have split screen). In a nutshell it ends up being more work than most publishers care to spend months paying for. On top of that, streamlining stage design to make split run smoothly means sacrificing nice graphics and effects or micromanaging system resources, possibly requiring more on-disc reading and writing to ram. When THAT happens, you have to ensure that data access rates will be very fast at all times for all players that could be connecting (if the game was also online coop) to keep one player's system from lagging other people online as they 'keep up'.

Long and short of it is that most people want highest-end graphics, and want the game sooner than later. Hence, few publishers even bother with split screen anymore. Some games that have managed it have done so by limiting stage design to keep memory free. Lost Planet 2 and Resident Evil 5 (and Resident Evil 6) all ran off the same game engine, and due to stage design being so streamlined both LP2 and RE5 had enough memory and processing power left to allow split screen play on the 360 and PS3. Thinking RE6 may be in the same boat too, so that's one to look forward to. Borderlands did this as well, due to it's fugly cel shaded look and flat textures greatly freeing up memory/power for use in multiple perspective splits AND online connectivity for other players. Now if only Borderlands had a better ending and not the worst of the decade.


Now, that said, RE:ORC could have supported split screen if a few things were done. First, get rid of the 2 ai buddies. Second, increase load times and split up indoor/outdoor areas so that when you enter one the game will pause to load data and remove old data. Third, remove some of the pretty effects like fog and trim down some of the lighting effects (light and shadows is murder on memory/processing speed, and this game plays with lighting a lot).

Create a new game mode that focuses on smaller maps that can be worked into split screen. Maybe add in a survival mode or 'bossfight' mode and enable split for that.


Now split screen coding also requires a bit of technical proficiency, and personally I think that's something Slant Six might not be up to task for unless they went with the above 'smaller' scale option.

whats the point of having two or more controllers if you cant flipping use them and really i don't really like online because i prefer to actually have some one sat next to me and actually having fun but really people say online great i am not going to argue that but its greater to have people who are physically there

and i agree im getting tired of online i wanna be able to pull out a good game from my shelf and it be split screen every once and a while

Oh my...I think its actually quite better with no split-screen.

There's something about it that tells me, that it just wouldn't fit, nor would make the game any different.

I like this game, but if you want a split-screen, get Uncharted 3, I reckon that's the best split-screen game, which also goes online.

Thats a bummer. I'm always looking for new split screen games. There just isnt anything quite as much fun as setting in front of a big screen TV with a friend to kill some zombies, . . .
