YES! someone else who loves F-14'S!! They are a great plane and despite what some people say, they have more thrust than the F-15 in this game. so if ur goin for speed in somthin, thats your plane.

re: Anyone still playing AECA?

You sure about that? I tested it in the past, and the F-15 to my memory, outperforms the F-14. Don't get me wrong, I also loves the F-14 (test bed black owns), and would love using it if it didn't stall so easily, and had the acceleration and 'OOMPH' that the f-15 series jets have.
Though in some situations, the F-15 can become VERY heavy and weighed down, in which the F-14 is a great substitute.

re: Anyone still playing AECA?

Yeah my love for the F-14 (my favourite plane ever) is infinite, but the '15 licks it in this game methinks.
It is a shame that the planes get so bogged down so easily and stall. It's a bit more realistic than AC04 where the planes hardly bleed any speed in a hard turn, but I think somewhere in between the two would be perfect.
It's a pity that the 'testbed' f-14 doesn't have the playboy bunny on tail.

re: Anyone still playing AECA?

raijin1999, you can import Energy AirFOrce II? If so, would it cost so additional money? Even if it only has English subtitles, I probably might buy it. Seems very fun and cool. As for the Macross game, I would probably do the same, even though I don't like Macross, but only Robotech. But the game does look a lot like AECA, because it uses the same game-engine some people said. So the hovering might be like AECA to, and the flight models. I think it is more of a shooter though, but the cool thing is that there are thousands of ships in space that you can fly up to, they all shoot back and the framerates never slow down, which I though could not be possible. That means millions of pods or fighters. It seems way better than the crapy American Robotech games(I was expecting at least 12 out 5 million ships to fly around and attack, but I get 3 ships and a few pods with only 2 friendly fighters?.

As for EA II, don't know mush about it, but it seems like a great game. Far better then both Lethal Skies. I picked up AFDS, and it was better then LS II.

ANd I still play AECA and AC04. Those are nodoubt the best PS2 games ever made.

re: Anyone still playing AECA?

I can import EE, and EE 2. The slide card thing makes import games a cinch, and it's legal.

I found out Macross' new game isn't like Aero Elite, not made by the AE guys, but the guys who did Aero Dancing. Someone got info crossed. -____-

EE and EE2 are a bit cheaper now, though with importing it still costs around 30-55 bucks. May be a bit hard to do if there are mission objectives told during flight, you'd never understand.

re: Anyone still playing AECA?

doran10183, in answer to your question, it hasn't been released in the UK. I sat by in agony reading the posts of everyone else on here about how great this game was, so the only answer was to have my PS2 chipped to play import games. You can get a slide tool and swap magic disks as an alternative but it's a bit messy I think.

If you wanna play this game, get your PS2 chipped with one of the new flash upgradable chips and order the game from an online shop in the States.

Chipping your PS2 will invalidate the warranty but if it's more than a year old then you might aswell.
Believe me it's well worth it, even just for this game!

It's different from Ace Combat, more realistic, sometimes a bit frustrating but overall it's my second favourite game ever (after AC04).

re: Anyone still playing AECA?

I've got the DMS3 v9 chip in mine and it's been good as gold. There haven't been many if any complaints that I've seen about this particular chip (others yes). You should get it professionally installed. There are a few places in the uk that do it, one in Bristol I think that's fairly good. Look em up on Yahoo and read their FAQ or give them a call. Just search under PS2 chips. Need more info, get back to me. It's a bit expensive so you'll have to decide if Aero Elite is worth it, although you will be able to play many other games that don't get released here.

re: Anyone still playing AECA?

Slide Card isn't messy either, and it's the cheapest. Only problem is I don't know if it works with newer model ps2's, which may have a rearranged CD tray.

Slide card works if you remove the little panel with the PS2 logo from the front of the PS2.

First you insert the DVD or BLUE DISC boot cd, and load it up. When it starts, it'll say 'insert game disc'. Then insert the card under the disc tray, and pull it to the right. This card then hooks on the unlocking mechanism, and manually opens the CD Tray (hamrlessly). Insert the Game CD and close the tray, then reverse the motion of the slide card to close the tray. When that's all done, hit X and the game will load up just fine.

I heard that there was a super simply mod chip thing, that simply installs into the front USB ports of the PS2, and it'll work like that. Sort of like an oldschool gameshark? I've never seen one though, and doubt it exists, since they ain't on mod sites I know of. Anyone hear of it?

re: Anyone still playing AECA?

Hi people.

Okay, I've got AFDS (which turned out to be a really bad game, 'cept for the 130+ plane inventory). But I also want to get AE:CA. Should I A)keep AFDS or B)trade AFDS for AE:CA. Is AFDS good enough not to trade it?

And is this game any good? I know that sounds pretty lame for a questions. So let me rephrase it:
What are the good points in this game, and what are the bad points? I need to know if this game is good enough for me to order.

re: Anyone still playing AECA?

Well, at this point, it's my only PS2 flight sim option, so I'll get it. EAAS is an import, unforunately, and the whole process that comes along with getting EAAS is just too much for me. AE:CA, here I come! Prepare to taste my ace skill!
