what where they thinking making this game 2D? Its the side stepping and slashing that makes Onimusha such a great game. In blade warriors its completely left out... and it could have been such a great game. How foolish!

Hopefully there will be another one, with the Oni 3 characters, and maybe some better scripting. It doesnt look like there will be any sequels though.

Maybe they could make the most out of portable consoles. Maybe a spin-off on PSP? A Blade warriors style Onimusha would be more suited to PSP anyway, and they could just make new levels, characters and a more simple gameplay structure!

I havent been drawn to any portable games since GBA, mostly cause I havent seen any games that really interested me, including the DW game for PSP. Im sure a good Oni game would persuade me though.

Yeah, i owned DW for the PSP, and indeed it did suck. I may try DW2 for the PSP though, it MIGHT be better.

I saw that the Onimusha threads needed some dusting off, but that can be said for alot of games. I think that Blade warriors could be made much better with some sort of Oni awakening for all characters, this would make better use of souls and an awesome way of finishing characters. That's what we need- finishers!

ok the game wasnt supposed to be like other onimushas, and the game is great, i love it, so back off!

Don't worry we still like this game. It's just the 2 player verses mode on Dawn of Dreams is way better (3D aswell), even if it only has about 8 characters. Gargant is way better too!

The best part is the continued story lines for a lot of the minor characters.
Playing as the bad guys is definitely great too. Of course I like BW, just pointing out my initial disappointments; without it I would never have gotten to be behind the wheel controlling Marcellus or Nobunaga.

Indeed! I personally think that they SHOULD make another game like this (a sequel?) with all the new characters, and their back-stories and continued story-lines, from Oni3 and DOD. And as i have said before, they could implement some sort of Oni awakening/Genma evolution to get the most from the gameplay while sticking true to the concept of an Oni game.

I have just played the 2 player DoD one that you mentioned Dantess, and I agree fully! I think it is definitely the direction the next BW should follow. I mean, all it needs from its current state is:
more Characters, better levels, 4 player capability.

The only thing that will be difficult is how to manage the cameras and how to operate awakenings and magic. Do they follow the absorbing souls from before? Does everyone get 3 (or more?) different elemental attacks?
I feel like that system worked quite well in BW.
