Hi guys.
Have you heard of NeoWikis? If not, here's the gist: they're a Wikipedia-esque source of information, mostly about games — hosted on Neoseeker. It's a Wiki, which means that
anyone can edit pages and build up a repository of useful information. You can help however much you wish, whether it's fixing a simple mistake or writing entire pages.
Neoseeker has an Uncharted NeoWiki:
If you're interested in lending a hand but are unfamiliar with how these wikis work, please check out the
introduction thread in the NeoWiki forums — it contains guidance, specifically aimed at beginners. You can also discuss the wiki in this thread if you wish, or PM

We already have
several pages on Golden Abyss, and appreciate any help in fleshing out this area.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss is an upcoming game in the Uncharted series. It is set before Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, but it is not a direct prequel. The game is PlayStation Vita-exclusive, and is due for release in 2012.
The game follows treasure-hunter Nathan "Nate" Drake as he journeys to South America with Jason Dante, an old friend, and Marisa Chase, the granddaughter of an archaeologist who has vanished without a trace. Nate, Dante and Chase are attempting to uncover the mystery surrounding an ancient Spanish cult.
[edit] Development
The game is being developed by Bend Studio, who are being overseen by Naughty Dog, the developers of the main Uncharted game series.[1] Although the game is set before Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, the first game in the Uncharted series, the distinction has been made that Uncharted: Golden Abyss is not a direct prequel leading into Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.[3]
The game received a full demo at the 2011 E3 conference, which highlighted how the game was going to utilise the PlayStation Vita's controls, such as the use of the platform's touchscreen feature.[4] However, it has also been stated that the use of these touchscreen features and motion-based controls will be optional, with more conventional control schemes using the Vita's button and dual-analog stick also being able to be used.[5][6] Furthermore, special attention has been paid to the animation of the game, in attempt to allow Uncharted: Golden Abyss to feature a similar quality of animation that can be seen in the Uncharted series on the PlayStation 3 platform.[5]
Nolan North revealed in an interview in March 2011 that he would be returning to voice Nathan "Nate" Drake for Golden Abyss. In the same interview, North revealed that John Garvin, who wrote the screenplay for the 2011 action film "Sanctum", would be writing the story for the game.[7] In the same interview, North noted that the shooting schedule for the game is much more aggressive, due to it being on a portable console. However, North also declared his excitement at working on the project and his happiness at the cast members he would be working alongside.[8] These cast members would later be revealed as Jason Spisak and Christine Lakin, who provide the voices for Jason Dante and Marisa Chase, respectively.[9]
Uncharted: Golden Abyss was featured at the 2011 Gamescom conference. At the conference, a new trailer for the game was unveiled, which revealed more about the game's plot and also introduced one of the game's primary protagonists: Marisa Chase.[10] At the 2011 Tokyo Game Show, Uncharted: Golden Abyss received a 10-minute gameplay walkthrough. The walkthrough included two chapters of the game: chapter four, "Why's the Building On Fire?" and "I'm Not Leaving Without It", the fifth chapter of the game.[11]
[edit] Gameplay
Like its predecessors on the PlayStation 3 platform, Uncharted: Golden Abyss is set to be a third-person action-adventure game, with special attention paid to the shooting and platforming aspect of the genre.
The game revolves around Nathan "Nate" Drake and his old friend Jason Dante attempting to uncover the mystery surrounding an ancient Spanish cult, possibly behind a massacre of a Spanish expedition to Central America 400 years ago. On their travels, the two of them come into contact with Marisa Chase, the granddaughter of an archaeologist who has disappeared without a trace, who is locked in a rivalry with Dante.[6]
[edit] Characters
- Nathan "Nate" Drake returns for Golden Abyss with Nolan North returning to voice the treasure-hunter and explorer.[7]
- Jason Dante makes his debut in the Uncharted series, appearing as an old friend of Nate, helping Nate on his adventure. Dante is caught up in a rivalry with Marisa Chase.[6] Dante is voiced by American actor Jason Spisak.[9]
- Marisa Chase also makes her first appearances in the Uncharted series. Chase is the granddaughter of an archaeologist who has disappeared without a trace. Chase is involved in a rivalry with Dante, and will come into contact with Dante and Nate on their travels.[6] Chase is voiced by American actress Christine Lakin.[9]
[edit] Reception
Early reception to the gameplay demo was positive, with the game being praised for its high quality of animation, the choice of its optional control schemes and the use of the Vita's features.[5]
