Bandai Namco Games has finally updated its official website for Tales of Xillia 2, its fourteenth(!) official game in the long-running Tales JRPG franchise and the sequel to Tales of Xillia for the PS3, with plenty of media including the first high resolution screenshots from the current build.
The new screens provide us a better look at the art direction of the title, and they're giving off some serious Wild Arms vibes; even characters Ludger Will Kresnik and Elle Mel Mata (gotta love those Tales names) look the part!
More importantly, Bandai Namco has also provided new details on the always important JRPG systems. Using the "Cross Double Raid Linear Motion Battle System" (which intuitively abbreviates to XDR-LMBS) for example, players will be able to have Ludger switch between three different types of weapon on the fly using the PS3 shoulder triggers right in the heat of the battle.
The screens thus far showcase Ludger being able to wield dual blades, two pistols and a two-handed hammer. Outside of battles, players will be required to affect the outcome of select story events by choosing between multiple options at certain points. Making choices like these throughout the story will likely play into the central themes of Xillia 2.
Tales of Xillia 2 is currently slated for a winter 2012 launch window in Japan.
