Yesterday my friend and I wanted to try playing Red Faction online. Everything seemed to work fine except that the mouse control was very awkward. Hard to explain, but that's beside the point.
After messing with the mouse settings and not getting it to do what I wanted, we just tried to play it like it was but it was too frustrating. Everything else worked perfectly. We finally decided to call it quits for the time being and next time we'd try I'd try using a controller instead.
So earlier today that time came and I set up my controller with Xpadder so I could play. I got into the game, and we started a multiplayer match, and I could control my player easily now. However, for some reason, I could not longer fire a weapon. I could use non-projectile weapons like swinging the control baton or placing/detonating mines, but no gun would fire.
Despite this inconsistency, I thought it might be caused by Xpadder, so we logged off, and I tried again without Xpadder, but we had the same problem. I then tried single player modes, and the firing worked just fine, but when I went back to multiplayer, it would not work. I still couldn't fire a weapon. It was clear to me by now that it had nothing to do with the controls.
The most annoying and confusing part about this, is that it worked just fine yesterday. Even though I was unhappy with the mouse movements, I could still fire the weapons just fine. Why, then, would this suddenly be happening? I just don't get it. It's only when I am in multiplayer.
I thought perhaps it could have been the map I chose, so I tried the Lobby map, which is one we also tried yesterday, but still, the guns would not fire at all... and no, it wasn't an ammo issue.
So please, if anybody knows how I might fix this. I would be so appreciative. My friend and I have been trying to play and there always seems to be SOMETHING going wrong.
