I don't think the Destroy ending was ever really a good ending to begin with. Even before the EC, you were told of the consequences of choosing to destroy synthetics. I think that alone convinced me never to choose it, even if Anderson and the rest of the world told me to straight up destroy the Reapers.

Chronologically, I think the breath scene occurs way before the rest of the Destroy epilogue. There is one scene showing the Citadel in the midst of being rebuilt (And a later seen showing it completely rebuilt) and another that shows London repaired with the "beam" still working.

I think it's fair to assume they found Shepard before work on the Citadel went underway.

The breath scene is still there but it appears like it's quite some time before that happens. The Normandy has already rebuilt and headed back. You have to think those repairs took some time.

Yeah, but the Reapers are still around in Synthesis, which is my biggest concern. While the ending does show the Reapers helping rebuild the Galaxy, in the long term they could still cause serious trouble.

This also extends to the Control ending, even with "Shepard" as their new leader. After listening to the Renegade Control monologue, it isn't that hard to imagine "Shepard" imposing martial law over the Galaxy.

If the Reapers decided to revert to their old ways and go rampant, what's going to stop them? I really doubt they would allow the Crucible to be recreated after learning of it's power over them. It may seem sadistic, but I'd prefer to remove the possibility altogether by destroying the Reapers.

The Catalyst made it clear. The purpose for the Reapers is to preserve the organics, it's not interested in fighting them; it was just a side effect of harvesting an entire civilization. Thanks to the Synthesis, Organics being also Synthetic no longer need to be preserved or harvested because there would no longer be any more "chaos". I mean, if The Catalyst would've been interested in only wiping out everything in sight, it would've never helped Shepard use the Crucible in the first place.

You destroy synthetics, and like it's been pointed out before: The pattern will repeat and there won't be a Shepard to broker peace between Synthetics and Organics the next time around like what happened during the Prothean cycle.
