A philosophical question about the ending - Page 5

Just went to see the romance on youtbe (since I always save Kaidan I will never see it) and just wanted to say I saw this: "Sadly, this won't trigger if you have Kaidan instead of Ashley. Same for Garrus and Tali flirting in engineering." just wanted to debunk that for anyone that cares. I had Kaidan on my crew and I saw the Tali/Garrus romance/flirting scene.

Havent been on here for a few days, so i cameon today & decided to read through the last couple of pages....

Someone wanna explain to me how people supposedly being stupid if they disliked the ending falls under the category of "Philosophical?"

Whether you like the ending or not i think anyone with half the intellect you are claiming to have should understand that this is not true at all?
The "Big picture" is irrelevant, what you percieve to take place after the credits have rolled is not part of the ending. The game ends with the destruction of the relays & synthesis or control or destroy. THAT is where the game ends. You are given free will to come up with what happens next but that does not make your thoughts part of the ending. With this knowledge we can conclude that in every ending there is a coloured beam of light, the relays get destroyed & several cutscenes play depicting the state of earth. Aswell as this the reapers are destroyed, controlled or synthesize with orgaics etc etc.
Depending on war assets & which option you pick there are 16 possible variations of cutscenes. That is not vastly different. Which leads us on to conclude that in this scenario The Stinger was correct & everybody is entitled to demand the product promised to them if they so choose.

As a human being it is The Stinger's right, my right, your right & anyone elses right to live as they see fit. If me, you or anyone else chooses to demand something of anyone that our right to do so. However i will agree with you that although people have the right to demand whatever they want from Bioware... Bioware are under no obligation to give in to said demands. If they decided they werent going to do anything about the uproar from fans, that is their right.

As for the ending being brilliant? No... just no! The concept of leaving me something to think about is great, coming up with a concept as to what happens to the galaxy after the events of the trilogy is fantastic. But given that the last 10-15minutes of the trilogy involve such ridiculous logic & so many plotholes, i just cant get past some of the ridiculous, pointless questions they leave at the end.
I would have been fine with being left to use my imagination & speculate what happened to the galaxy after the invasion. But i am not fine with being made to question the entire trilogy due to a few minor things at the end of the 3rd installment that didnt even need to be there. Im not fine with having to speculate how the Normandy ended up crash landing on some random planet... unless they were going to explain it they shouldnt have included it.

And my last comment on your discussion is that Casey Hudson also said quite clearly that the end of the trilogy was all about closure... answering all the questions fans wanted answers to. Tying up the loose ends. That leaves the...

I understand your point involving the bushfires in australia, its a great example... however like the reapers, like the catalyst... your logic is flawed. What you fail to realise is that no matter what you do life will always find a way. Granted, humanity leaving Earth in such a bad way as to prevent organic life flourishing ever again is a possibility as you rightly said. However this will never be an issue on a galactic scale. Between all organic life alive during the current cycle they could render all garden-worlds uninhabitable & prevent organic life evolving on any of the garden-worlds. They could then kill each other & remove organic life from the galaxy entirely.
This would not prevent organic life rising again! It is a mathematical certainty that in an everlasting, everexpanding universe somewhere in time organic life will evolve again. There is no need to remove the current cycle to make way for the next as even if they were wo wipe themselves out completely & stunt organic life for millions of years, eventually evolution would start it all from scratch.

That would be one thing, but some expanded cut scenes I don't think will do it for me. It will HELP, but it won't take the bad taste of the Guardian debacle out of my mouth completely. If they actually make something playable that changes things slightly, then I will have to take it as it comes and hope for the best.

I was thinking that too. That it seemed like a long time for just some cinematics. Oh well - here's to hoping!!!!!!!

I hear you. ME3 broke my heart.

I am torn on the 'art' topic. Are games art? I really do believe they are. Do I like all art? No. Do I like all games? No. Did I love 99% of ME1, ME2, and ME3? Yes. Did I love that last 1%? No. Does that make it not art? No. Do I think that Hudson and Bioware are hiding a bit behind the 'Art' umbrella? Yes.

In short, if I went to see a rock concert and the band played a ton of heavy songs I loved through the whole thing and then at the very end broke out in a musical number from a Broadway show would I leave happy or would I leave confused? Was it any less art because they switched gears last second? I can tell you this - while I might not go to the box office and demand my money back, I do think I would go to the band's facebook page later once I had time to digest what I had just seen, and give my two cents and probably ask them to not do that again. XD

For now (until the summer DLC hits) I will consider ME2 the crown jewel of the trilogy and try to let go of my disappointment. It's proving harder than it should be.

They've been hinting at more than just a few cutscenes. I don't think it would take 3-5 months to throw together some cinematics. They've been working on this since March.

In comparison, each ME2 DLC seemed to take around 3 months, including Lair of the Shadow Broker and Overlord.

At the same time that was paid dlc with a full team. This is free dlc and even things such as a few cinematics will get very expensive, very quickly. If anything they probably have a much smaller team working on it whenever they can, rather than a large, dedicated team working round the clock just to make a release date.

I think very few people will pay for an ending dlc. Bioware made the right choice. First of all those that did not like the ending are not the majority but they are certainly not the minority, they are vocal and would go beserk if they had to pay for an ending dlc.

Then we have the casual gamers, who accepted the ending and will probably want fresh original content or multiplayer dlc to a revised ending they probably don't even care about (since they probably see nothing wrong with the current one).


Thats 2 large chunks of what contributes the ME community there. Also there can never, EVER be any way to justify a paid ending dlc if it was planned from the start. EVER.
