Favourite game? - Page 2

For me it definitely goes like: ME1>ME3=ME2

ME3 would have been better than ME2 if it wasn't for the ending but still not as good as ME1. For me ME1 had the better sniper rifle, better gameplay, better story, cooler ship, set the ME world, had better interactions with squadmates and had elevators .


ME2 had the coolest bunch of squadmates, but kinda missed having a plot at all, gameplay was too 'streamlined' and also ruined my sniper rifle! The suicide mission meanwhile was the greatest mission of the whole series and I'd also give it to ME2 that it had the best music in the series as well. ME2 established the world a bit more, but at the cost of not establishing some core components of the story arc. By the end of ME2 we knew only one thing more about the reapers (which was very lame) and very slightly more about the protheans. The Terminator at the end was a kick in the guts too, but whatever.

ME3 had a gameplay similar to ME2 but much better. The plot and story was also much better than ME2 but at times I felt they were trying too hard to simulate the player's emotions. The child for example was one of the most annoying elements of the series. ME3 also had the worst squad between the three games. EDI should have been left as it was in ME2. There was no Krogan. And the squad was too small with not as much development as there was in ME2 or ME1. Maybe it was just me not paying enough attention to the squad members, I dunno. Then the ending was... well there's a separate thread for that.

I feel that ME3 also suffered from mistakes in ME2 and ME1. The mistake from ME1 was that they established the reapers to be simply too powerful to even scratch. This notion was strengthened in ME2 when the derelict reaper was shown as a one in a million thing. ME2 also didn't help in any way with explaining much about either the reapers or any ways to defeat them.

At the moment, Mass Effect 2, due to the fantastic (in my opinion) DLC. If I were to take each game at it's base, I'd say ME3 is edging out a little more due to the increased squad interactivity.

I need to try the DLC, any recommendations? The three games each have their own merits, and each one has been a hugely enjoyable experience. However, the easiest thing for me to say is that ME2 comes in behind the other two.

From there, I would probably have to say nostalgia, amongst other things propels ME a little higher than it would do otherwise, but even then probably not enough to touch ME3.

I finished ME3 earlier, and although I feel slightly underwhelmed at its closure, I'm not disappointed or saddened by the ending - it was okay, but not the ending that was going to blow my emotions to smithereens as I'd hoped. However, the game did manage to do that on countless occasions throughout the game. I lost count of the number of times I laughed whilst playing it. Several moments literally had the hairs all over me standing on end. And despite the fact that I literally don't cry at anything, I teared up (or close to it) at least two or three times.

That emotional impact, as well as well refined game-play, moving back towards the depth of ME without becoming at all bogged down as that was, means I really can't look past ME3.

ME1,ME3,ME2 first being favorite and last being least of the three lol.
Tbh I don't know anymore if it's a nostalgia thing going or not with ME1 but it was my first of the series and it was just so new. (then I sold my 360 and got a PS3, so no more ME1 for me unless...)
ME3 kind of felt like I was playing ME1 again but Idk how :/ the game felt great and I was having a lot of fun ( 26 or 27 hours go by and it's over so yeah, but hey I got 6900+ GR without DLC so that was kool?)
ME2 There were several things I didn't like I guess but regardless I loved it. (maybe the lack of choices that seemed to weigh heavy on shep, like in ME1 there were quite a few and they were big.) ME2 had the end choice which was like wow but not counting DLC I don't remember if there were others.

ME 1: best story. ME 2: best characters. ME 3: best writing from an emotional standpoint

Mass Effect 2 is my favorite one;)
