I think that depends on how you've role-played Shepard. If you went for a "survival at any cost" option, I think it's a viable option.

Ya they can be taken down with the weapons they have. If you read some of the secondary codex under "war with the reapers" it states that the turians and krogan actually managed to down a significant amount of reapers. And hell, we killed a reaper with nothing more than a handheld heavy weapon in london and another with tank mounted missiles so.........

Like most it seems I too have problems with this ending(s).
Sad ending don't matter much to me but an ending with total lack of closure does.

This was an RPG where choices, actions and their consequences ruled. This ending(s) pay no head in any kind what-so-f******-ever to what you have done before. 3 choices with their pre-set consequences. One choice may be somewhat altered if you have spent time on multiplayer and built enough war-readiness points. (That the multiplayer is actually needed I just find to be nothing less than insult to injury but this post not on that.) And for it you get you get a whooping extra few seconds of movie showing something/someone in a burnt and damaged N7 armor in a pile of rubble back on earth...
So if people feel like nothing they done matter and replaying the game fells totally pointless I completely understand it (though not wholly agree).

The choices themselves and the ending of the story is not really "bad" in concept for a story per se but they completely blow for a game of this kind.

The end just creates more questions and what could be gigantic loopholes.

This "child" thing in the citadel. What really was it? An EXTREMELY powerful AI and the mother of all reapers was what it seemed like. If that is so and it lived in the citadel why did it not help Sovereign the first time? or just send the signal itself?

How could someone come up with the concept of the Crucible much less start to draw on it and even building on it without knowing what the catalyst was and what it could do?
More precisely how could this knowledge NOT be part of any drawings for it?

The three endings....
The "synthesis" ending changes the universe for the beings still living so profoundly that anything happening before it pales to nothingness.

The "control" ending feels like it totally contradicts everything you ever fought for regardless of how you played your Shepherd.

The "destruction" ending... destroy the reapers, the mass relays, all synthetics from self conscious geth to Shepherds implants... Nothing but the wholesale destruction of civilization as it was back to pre-synthetic times. Pretty damn far and in a sense another reaper victory. Their very last victory but their victory none the less. They send organic civilization back to more primitive days just like they used too.
This was the "best" option according to many it seems... ...bah!

Where is the forth option?
F*** THIS S***!!! Turn back and try it the old hard way. Blow up the citadel or crash it on London where Harbinger and company are standing. Sacrifice whole earth if need be, let the power of the assembled fleets do what they can. Chance of ultimate success and survival close to 0.00% but please let me try...

Very much so Machienzo I'm afraid. Understandable given the fact that if your content with the ending then anything that contradicts that is wrong in their opinion. but it works both ways too, people who find the ending unsatisfactory can't fathom why those who think its fine are contented.

I have yet to read 'I only want a happier ending' anywhere though, as opposed to 'I want a resolution, not a exactly a happy ending'.

If you are referring to me, I'm not under any illusions. I simply wanted to know how many believed they would come out of a galactic extermination event and still enjoy a somewhat happy ending.

i didnt have a problem with DA2's ending, the Chantry getting blown up was shocking but it made sense and was the exclamation point on the whole political power struggle in the game. plus it also gave me a good excuse to kill stupid Anders.

exactly. i want Shepard to die in the end. i think it needs to happen. but i also want him/her and all the Assets you collect to blow the living shit out of the Reapers along with it.

Is so many things on Mass effect 3, that makes me think that mass effect 3 is not the end of the saga...

- romances and possible * baby *
- Cortez joining N7 special forces.
- Liara's time capsule with info about the reapers.
- The *obvious* open endings in which Liara survive not matter what.

I get the felling that it *may* be a 2nd mass effect triology in the future.. but I may be wrong.
