Playing a Breton Mage (Help)

Hey guys! I'm looking for any and all helpful advice as a Breton Pure.
Right now, my skills are in order from most used, to least.
Destruction, Restoration, Alteration, Alchemy, Enchanting.
My racial perks benefit 3/5 of those. I didn't feel the need for conjuration, solely because the atronachs die so easily. Alteration turned out to be a good idea because of some spells that offer me more survivability. Destruction is self explanatory, my only form of offense. Restoration is also something a mage needs, like alteration, lets me live longer. I use heals and banish undead spells, but not wards because of my Breton magic resistance + amulets that give magic resistance.
I'm level 18 rolling pretty well, but occasionally dying. I'm trying to keep my character more of a "good guy". I joined the CoW, Blades, and Companions. Shock is my type of destruction because of magic drain and instant-hit (bad aimer). My follower is Lydia, hoping to use Mjoll later as a cannon fodder (essential). I dual cast my destruction, but not heals or alteration. For stats, I pour all of it into magicka and use a health ring; I plan on putitng some health around 30 and above. I use lightning bolt as a primary, favorited spell. As well as fast healing, healing hands, and oakflesh. I have not bought any DLC yet, but I plan on Dragonborn soon. More info later: I use mage armor from alteration tree and combine with destruction robes, adept hood, and enchanted cloth boots + gloves. Not on my PC right now, so more detailed stuff will be later-er. Like I said, all advice on how to play, what to reallocate (running Ishs Respec mod) and wear, etc, will be used. I'm a noob to skyrim, and I occcasionally console hack gold/tgm/tcl/coc.

Could you provide more info? Such as how much magic resist you have? Also, I don't think you really need to invest in the Alchemy tree, your build should be fine without it and you'll have some more perk points to spend.
Have you assigned a standing stone ability yet? The Atronach and the Lord are great abilities for a Breton Mage. You can get the Atronach to add a 50% spell absorbtion for 60sec. Greater Power and an extra 50 magicka at the cost of 50% of your magicka regen.
The Lord Stone gives you 50 bonus armor rating, which doesn't conflict with mage armor perks, and also gives you another 25% magic resistance on top of that.

Thanks for the info. Lets see, I have an amulet with 20% magic resistance, combined with the passive breton 25% equalling up to 45%. That + shock magic drain makes enemy mages less of a threat, while physical threats are flushed out by followers and armor spells. I am using atronach stone currently, but I might switch to lord when i'm dying quicker. You are right about alchemy, I don't need it, maybe more destruction perks (like 2/3 of the damage types. I was thinking about fire and frost, which offers a wide variety of spells and bypasses resistances - also makes a pretty badass mage. You said atronach adds a spell absorbtion for a minute, but that is actually a passive, making other mages even <less> of a threat. Sometimes the bonuses can be overrated and i'll find myself vulnerable to something or another. Thanks
