I have almost entirely quit using followers, except on occasions since I have started to play on master. Most of the time, they end up walking in front of me as I fire an arrow, which in turn rag dolls them cause it gave me a sneak bonus. Thats pretty much how Lydia and Jenessa have died every play-through. Shadowmere is normally more help them followers. She/He, not gonna get into the debate on what gender shadowmere is, will run before it's health drops too low. Plus is fun watching her/him hoof bandits in the skull.

i just got a special power where i cant hurt my follower in combat at all, and shouts dont affect them either.
