Flight to the Soul Cairn Delayed for 2 Months for PS3 Users...

... and Bethesda not being any help at all. The least I can say is that the chances of Dawnguards arrival are getting bleaker for PS3 users waiting for the new content.

First of all I am unable to express my frustration to you lads. While Xbox 360 users have been firing crossbows, riding blue flaming horses and turning into flying bat people while exploring two massive new areas for 3 months, and PC users got the new content just under a month ago, PS3 users have nothing, be it content or just information on what exactly is the problem with the DLC. They say they want everybody to know where they're at with Dawnguard. Still we have next to no information. It's as if Bethesda workers were sworn to secrecy or are just giggling to each other about their little secret. Ok, first we were pissed off that Microsoft bought 30 day exclusivity, but was manageable. After all it's only 1 month. However it was much more manageable for PC gamers who have mods to mess around with. PS3 gamers were still left with the same content they had since November. Then PC gamers received their content, and are chuffed with that and their Daedric Crossbows and Enchanced Vampire Lords and Photorealistic ENBs. Still PS3 gamers left with the same content. Then we learn we might never get the content. What? An outrage. Many of you will understand.

I think we have waited long enough for some information. What EXACTLY is wrong? No " we have a spot of lag," answers. We want definitive, black-and-white answers on what is wrong. Take into account the Unofficial Skyrim Patch. This fixes hundreds of known bugs and glitches. If Bethesda actually LET US KNOW what the problem is, maybe the modders can help. One HUGE portion of the player population of Skyrim are not being taken into account.

This could be some big scam by Microsoft so people will buy their product. Or maybe it is a virus that deletes all your content and burns your console to the ground. WE WANT TO KNOW.

You neglect one minority. You treat us like little children who want to know but won't understand. Great job, Bethesda. You really let us down.

The huge population was actually the modding community, not ps3 players. And the scam was not an actual theory, only an example I used when describing what could have happened because we don't know! I play there games because theyre good, and Bethesda are very good at making games. Just I was dissapppointed they're keeping us in the dark that's all

I have been playing skyrim since Christmas and have rarely got bored of it for long - I have also (like all other PS3 skyrim players) have been looking forward to the release of Dawnguard on PS3 - however - i have an idea of programming and the possible problems that can occur thanks to my last 4 years in college and Uni learning the trade of computer programming.

The following is mostly speculation based on my knowledge of computers etc

I don't want Bethesda to NOT release dawnguard as it looks to be a great new chapter in the story. but looking at the clues given from the different tweets and messages that bethesda have given us there is a high possibility that the issues with dawnguard are more severe than some people think.

People have seen frame rates drop, floating characters, flying mammoths (well i have anyway) as well as couriers appearing to deliver a message completely naked except for a bonnet.

I have also had issues with colour distortions due to having multiple save files. Now where as some people may see a flying mammoth as a small problem its actually not good at all it indicates a loading or spawning error this usually means there is a back log of error messages going on behind the scenes and the only reason the game is continuing and not crashing is because it is doing it's best to try and fix the problems without causing too much strain on the system. This will however have the opposite effect if played for a long stretch of time as the error log will just keep growing. Most likely the error log will be deleted when you turn the game off however the issues you face with the game will continue until you restart the machine or at least the game.

with this information in mind the added dawnguard expansion would heavily increase the memory size of your save files regardless of the save file being loaded or not - Its important to bear in mind the hard-drive.

The most likely issue is that those PS3's with a large hard-drive space will operate just fine with the expansion however those with a smaller HD will struggle to the point of self destructing.

People are getting frustrated at bethesda for not releasing it but look at the bigger picture - is it right that some PS3 users can have assess to the expansion but others cant and is it bethesda's fault if some PS3's (that sony customers could have bought) cant cope with the file sizes or is it the fault of the PS3 owner for not getting a bigger memory console.

Bethesda are still working on releasing the expansion but have said there are no promises at this time. I believe this is down to the fact that even with sonys help they cannot find a way to fix this issue easily.





On the plus side the Hearth Fire expansion will be considerably smaller and i believe should be able to operate on PS3 quite easily.

Feel free to comment below but just keep in mind this is an issue that may not be able to be resolved.

My final words are : Expect the worst then if all goes well and it is released you can be pleasantly surprised

Actually, it is a bug, you probably just haven't seen it, it happens when a mammoth gets too close to another, they appear to be stacking up, one gets "beamed up" into the air and then falls to its doom, quite funny xD

I think PS3 users just need to start accepting the fact that we're probably not going to see any of the DLC packs for a long time, if at all, instead of sitting around waiting for it and getting whiny.

The fact is that Bethesda's engine (which is not new; it's just a heavily modified GameBryo engine, which already had problems on PS3 before Skyrim) just does not work as well on the PS3, and as such I think as PS3 users we should expect that future Bethesda product will be similarly stunted on our platform.

Your best bet is just to get the game on another platform and get on with your game. Nobody is forcing you to stick with the PS3.

Your right. I suppose I overreacted. Dawnguard would probably be released already if not for this bug(s), on all platforms. Let's just wait and see what happens, or get another console or better yet, a PC. Choose between getting DLC a month earlier, or enjoying thousands of mods as you wait that month. And one more thing. Here's a piece of advice a lot of you will refuse to follow, which is understandable, seeing as I would too if it was given to me. Stop playing Skyrim, or take a good long break until Dawnguard comes out, if ever. Play another title, maybe Dark Souls or Fifa 13, whatever floats your boat. I understand if you don't want to do this, but maybe play an older elder scrolls title, like morrowind or oblivion, even Daggerfall and Arena if you want. I took a 2 month break playing oblivion and enjoyed it immensely, and when I got bored with it I returned to skyrim and it felt like a new game almost. Perhaps Dawnguard will be out by the time you've finished your break and then you'll have hours of content you've never played before, plus the fresh feeling you get when playing skyrim again. Try it.
