Winterhold and Mage collage disappointing

I'm not a Mage so I guess I'm slightly bias but I thought that winterhold was quite poor in scale and quests, seems it was classed as a main city? Also the mages collage quest was great but too small? And the fact I haven't done any magic in 200+ hours yet I'm now the arch Mage? WTF that's so silly I didn't have to do any magic at all. I feel like I have robbed the title arch Mage and to be honest I shouldn't have been given the title another wise Mage should have got it.

Yeah I really wish it was like the Mage's Guild with a lot of recommendation quests and then a good story with the fight against necromancy.

In Oblivion I became Arch-Mage without using magic either If my memory serves me correctly, in the few parts where you had to I just used scrolls. This is because on my only mage char I was roleplaying a Necromancer so joining the Mages Guild would have seemed a bit out of place

If you'd paid attention to any ingame lore you'd know that Winterhold is like that because of the Great Collapse where half of the city fell into the sea.

Uh, Winterhold I think was actually big enough to rival the capital. In fact I think it might have actually been the capital once. Unfortunatly, almost all of the city fell into the ocean except for the College, and a few outlying buildings. And tbh I like the College more than the Mages Guild in Oblivion which monopolized all the spell-making, enchantments, and had you do a quest in every damn city before you could even use the shit making the Mages Guild a required guild for anyone who wanted to make their character even somewhat use magic.

Saying that Magic was overpowered in Oblivion, and then they nerfed it in Skyrim. But at least you can enchant where you want and not have to freaking join a guild you don't want to join to enchant.

But that was the good thing about becoming a Mage in oblivion because you had to work hard for it an it made you feel better when you was a part of the guild. In skyrim you don't feel like a part of any Mage guild at all. Felt like I walked in and came out top dog without doing anything.

Winterhold is a main city. It was bigger till half of it was swept away in a disaster.
