skyrim has been a nightmare. . .can anyone help?

Hi, I just bought and installed this game on my pc. I am not a huge game person or a techie. I was upset to find I had to install something call steam . . for 6 hours! Finally I begin to play. The controls seem messed up to me in general. I am having specific issues with a couple of things having to do withe the "e" key. I believe it should allow conversation. If I set mouse at a person, I get persons name and the letter "e" followed by the word talk. However sometimes people don't talk. Maybe they aren't supposed to? Why would the option appear if not available? Even more frustrating is another "e" issue, I think. If there is a dead person, I see some identification for the person and the word search. But the "e" key only kicks the person around. Same with picking up arrows. . (and trying to "read" a book). .they jump around and only once in a while can I pick them up. I checked UHS and Wiki for anything I could be doing wrong, but saw nothing. The instructions that came with the cd are not good imo. I didn't have problems like this with Morrowind or Oblivion! Can anyone help? Thanks. Patti

Hi. I just started this game today and if Gerdur - Riverwood is the sister of the guy I escaped with in the begining, she is who we escaped to. She talks but has nothing of importance to say. I have only "met" a vendor who sent me out for a stolen claw. I quit after finding bandits because of the problem of searching the dead. . .

Just be aware, Rabbits are too heavy too move...
