Aye, i read about that, really the best way to improve smithing is to start smithing heavy armor, its worth more then light in most cases.

I usually grind up almost exclusively by Improving foresworn Armor, because it just takes Leather, and I like Hunting. I don't take it up to 100, though, because I don't have the patience. Skyforge Steel is plenty strong enough, once tempered, and just requires Steel Smithy, so i can go light side to Advanced Armors. That, and I think Daedric/Dragon looks dorky. Some of the most powerful scripted weapons use Orcish/Dwarven Smithy to improve, including the Longhammer, which you can leave unenchanted for Massive DPS with Elemental Fury, or Volendrung with Arcane Blacksmith. With crafting, I find Enchantment more useful with all the available effects, than the simple Moar Damage from smithing. Plus, I can train it in combat by recharging staffs, and enchanted weapons.
