Black Smithing. After 1.5 Patch

Okay guys so I am sure I am not the only one to notice that Smithing in Skyrim got nerfed all to hell and now takes forever to do it and there is no effective way to do it. The Iron Daggers no longer work so I switched to new stuff like Dwarven armors and Amethyst Necklaces and all things that have a high value as you know value is now factored into the leveling of your smithing, Well I need an effective way to do it now as of now I have mad 233 iron daggers, 55 dwarven armors. 50+ types of jeweleries all the gems (flawless diamond, sapphire, ruby) and I have done it all with the Warrior Stone and the Well Rested Bonus. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP

Jewelry, enhanced by the Transmute ores spell for gold generation so you don't have to hunt it down is the highest value stuff for the amount of time, and effort. You might want to get the Crown of B too for massive amounts of gemstones. Otherwise you end up spending too much time looking for leathers, ores, ingots, and Dwarven junk to melt down. Also, collect all the weapons, and armor you can carry to the nearest grindstone/workbench. Keep track of where these are, so you don't have to go all the way back to Whiterun, or Markarth. Improving items isn't much XP, but there's an offal lot of items to be improved. If you use a horse, and houscarl, you can have her pick stuff up in the command menu, and dismiss her to haul overloads back to your home. Works with Wives too (if they can also be used as followers.) You don't have to marry Jenassa, she always goes back right across the street from Warmaiden's. Don't promote them to Blades, though, because the closest forge to SHT is clear across KSC.

At least in the beginning, I improve as much Forsworn stuff as I can get, because it only requires Leather/steel, there's piles of it, and a lot of their Redoubts have grindstones/workbenches. You can hunt between them, kill Giants for their Hide rich loot, and use the redoubt's tanning rack. The steel is trickier, but each Forager has at most 2 weapons, and 4 pieces of armor, and since they have what you need, they don't have to be carried off the premesis.

I just ended up training Smithing passively. In other words, I picked up ever gem, bar and ore that I could lay my hands on and then proceeded to smith as much as I could. The best way to do it is to simply find Smiths when you're in towns and cities. You can buy ores, ingots and leather from them, which you can then use to smith items, which you can then sell to them to gain back a little bit of money, which you can then use to buy more metal bars and so on, so forth.

Yes, this. So much better than grinding, but I also intersperse it with improving what i can in the field. And the Rudie's right, if you're going to train smith, and enchanting, it saves a pile of time to do them together.

Huh? My smithing levels up really quickly and the Iron dagger glitch works still

I was able to level my smithing up to level 100 pretty quickly using the following method.

Raise your pickpocketing up to level 40 and purchase the poisoned perk.(lets you place poisons on people through pickpocketing. Then start training with the smithing teachers. After you've purchased 5 levels from a trainer, place a paralysis poison on him and watch him collapse. Then, while crouching, keep trying to pickpocket him, until his inventory shows up.(You have to keep hitting it. For whatever reason, when they're paralysed the pickpocketing only works right when they start to get up. Now, once you're looking at their inventory you'll see all the gold you spent on levels. It'll say you have a 0% chance of successfully pickpocketing the gold, but it'll still work without a hitch since he's just been paralysed.

Works every time. Take note though, you can only purchase 5 levels from a trainer for every character level. In other words, if your character level is 45, and you purchase 5 smithing levels, you won't be able to buy any more smithing levels until your character level is 46. Also, Eorlund Grey Mane is the Master smithing trainer, so you have to join the companions to level all the way up to 90. After that, just make some Daedric stuff and you'll get to 100 fast.

I always go to Kolskegger mine (that spelling is way off, but it's in the reach) and use dual pickaxes. Because you get both gold Ore AND gems from it, it helps if you haven't collected all the stones of barenziah yet. Smelt the ore together Into ingots and craft jewelry. Sell the jewelry for more gems if needed and repeat. You can also mine a lot of iron ore and use the transmute spell for some major gold ingots. That method boosts speech, smithing, and alteration.

Once you get smithing to level 80 and can make ebony stuff you can make ebony daggers with 3 ebony ore each, that levels you up pretty quick. I haven't check on bows yet but they tend to be the best thing to make.
