Mage Armor on warrior

I was thinking of using mage armor on a warrior , is it feasible [using flesh speels originally and later dragonhide] to take any damage . A good amount of health and stam into the mix and maybe a clock spell to spice things up .

I have never really leveled alteration much to know anything about dragonhide , but i recently read what it does on the wiki . It seems seriously strong enough to be worth it .

I really just wanna use a blade guy wearing that dragon priest mask with a suit to kill ppl using maybe a shield and sword or maybe 2 swords to deal damage .

I am currently , using a Dark Elf with heavy armor and shield that has high fire resistance that uses flame walls around itself and cloak to kill ppl and also uses a shield bashing set same time . I found it quite good , especially agiainst dragons . Fire types cant hurt me while for frost types , I do very high damage . Anyone else tried it ?? I m still low lvl so I wanna know if its effectiveness will stay even later on

I use it on my Redguard Spellsword/Berserker. Just cast it left handed, and drop another sword in as you advance. Works great. Bound Swords are stompy in the early game, and can lead up to a sword/summon combo which is a worldbeater later on. (I don't suggest bound sword as primary unless you Want to train up Conjuration.) Note, weapons drop almost instantly into the left hand without redrawing, but Shields do not, so i usually go with dual wield with spells. Shouldn't be a problem if you cast it early enough.

The Mage Armor perks will pretty much eliminate all your investment in Heavy Armor, so don't waste the points on them. I prefer _skin spells on unamored for the better speed, and stamina, but you can probly make it work. Just invest more into Magic Resistance, and The Atronach when you earn it. Detect Life/Undead are very useful, and train up Alt quickly.

The Alteration Ritual Spell. You have to get a unique Dragon Priest Dagger, and use it to collect Dragon Heartscales, then take them to Tolfdir once you get your Alteration up to level 90. Then you have to dual cast it after about a 3 second charge time, like any Master Spell, but the level of protection is about worth it. Also, it doesn't respond to the Alteration Dual Casting, nor Mage Armor perks.

Well, except for Flame Wall on grounded dragons. Once you get to the point where you can just hose it, that particular spell hits them with multiple instances of 70 points per second, and On Fire status across their footprint to roast them faster than anything less than full on Lightning Storm for less magicka. You can't do that kind of DPS with swords, I tried. Everything else, maybe you got a point there, but try it some time. Impact is a lot less magicka efficient, unless you wear a free destruction glitch suit, or use the Breton/Atronach magicka well combo. Believe me, I've tested it thoroughly on Alduin at Master level. Just because you don't know how to use something doesn't make it useless.

psiberzerker I didn't say wall spells were useless, it's just that my dual cast tactic tends to kill things faster while keeping them at bay. Plus there is the whole "enemies run straight through a wall spell and only get hit once anyway" thing. As for dragons, I don't like letting them that close and they can always fly off and I have to Dragonrend them or wait again and again. Note, I was talking about just using it on grounded dragons, who don't run that fast. Against NPCs, you just stand in the pool of damage, which doesn't hurt you, and they take 70 points per second to get at you. Even if they run right through, lay it on thick enough, and that's a serious dent, with them on fire. Try backpedaling, and leaving a nice road for them to run down, getting hit every instance instead of just once. Works great in corridors. Alls I'm saying is, it's not an every fight tactic any more than running yourself out of magic using Impact repeatedly. That's why there's so many Destruction spells, they all have their uses.

Incinerate is a much more expensive spell, in terms of damage/magicka. Firebolt, can sustain Impact a lot longer, and each hit sets them on fire again, so is the most magicka Efficient choice for chain stun. (If you're going to keep them off balance, it doesn't matter how fast you do damage, as long as your Magicka holds out.) Try using Frost Wall, it saps their Stamina so they can't take off, even if they're resistant to Frost Damage. Less mana efficient, but you'll have them in the pool that much longer. Also, Ice Storm scores multiple hits over their large bodies, and can be dual cast for Impact, while keeping their stamina low. If I'm using Impact, it's usually IS, because even on armies, it staggers a lot of them at once, with Slow, and a chance for Deep freeze to kick in.

I don't use the glitch suit, there's no equivalent for Warrior's stamina (nor should there be) nor Archer's arrows, unless you count the Bound Bow spell, which eventually makes you a conjurer. Not telling you how to play, but I feel they put magicka in the game for a reason, and find using 1 spell on Impact every fight gets old very quickly. Mages are supposed to be the intelligent creative class. I can't dumb that down to 1 exploit when there's so many spells, each with their own uses. If you do, Ice Storm is probably that 1 spell. (With the caveat that it's already short range gets even shorter when dual cast, but that's about the only disadvantage.) It Pwns dragons, on the wing, or grounded, and chain stuns entire armies if you can get them in a bottle neck. Not to mention it also goes through cover, so you don't even have to expose yourself. You can hide, and still stagger them to death from safety.

Underpowered, but versatile. I personally compensate by using combos that reinforce, like IS, and Flaming familiar. Sure, it's "Only" 90 damage (without the Augment Element perks) but it's spread liberally around everyone in the AOE. Warriors, and Archers have no way to hit multiple people at once, so in a crowd, a mage is actually much more powerful if you play it right. I agree about "Master Destruction" spells, most of that tier are liable to kill you as much as everyone else because they nail you down for 3 seconds. The best defense for an unarmored spellcaster is being able to outrun anyone weighed down by their kit. Being forced to stand still that long is a recepe for being interrupted, and/or outright killed before you pop it off (Unless you use Become Ethereal, or Invisibility.)

That's why i love mages, they're only overpowered in proportion to how creative you can be with the effects. A warrior can wade in, swing, and laugh at the puny attempts to dent his armor, while an archer can hang back, and keep shooting till everything's dead. With a glitch suit, and impact, you can dumb Wizard down to the same mindless level of repetition. I for one, would rather not.

Easilly the most overpowered build I've done is a "Moshpit Mage" with Illusion, Destruction, and Conjuration. Just looking at the damage per spell, it can't compete with a warrior in full Daedric, but by using summons, and spells with Invisibility, and an unencumbered Altmer, I'm able to single handedly take on Armies without ever even being targeted. It's still fun to play, after sufficiently proving the game broken because it only works if you Think, and can juggle the spells fast enough. I'd much rather do that that remove thinking from the equation, and hold down 2 buttons over, and over.

Even the lowly Fire Rune can be used creatively long after you unlock Fireball. It's costly, but you can kite Giants (or Warlord Gathrik) onto them, casting them at your feet without slowing down. You can do the same with Wall of Damage, running through your path of Destruction with the AI mindlessly following.(Runes work a little better, because of the pulsed nature of the casting. This allows you to sprint between, and let your magicka recover.) I haven't really found a decent use for Flame Cloak. It's a last ditch, if you happen to have enough magicka left when they close, And are low enough for that to finish them off. Even running through the battle doesn't do as much damage as similar tactics with Critical Charge, and Hack&Slash(3). Totally not worth the casting cost.

Have you actually tried this? It works, kind of, but as you have to be straffing to the side, it's a little tougher than dual casting fireball. Regardless, you have a point, but that's the only way.

Barring context, I'll assume you mean Runes, and Walls. The point I was trying to make is the lack of having to aim, nor even face the beater you're kiting makes up for the mana disadvantage in the case of Runes. These things are hideously expensive, but they get the discount early, so act as a "Poor man's fireball" until you make it up to that spell. (Between 25, and 50, they do more damage for less magicka until you can unlock Adept Destruction.) Afterwards, they still have a use, because you can sprint away, laying mines as you go without stopping. Once you get up to Expert, you can replace them with a trail of fire, but Runes work for this tactic for a much longer stretch of the game. This tactic works better with multiple opponents out in the open, because you can get them all to chase you, while you can only Bolt them one at a a time. Again, it was an alternative example.

I'd love a spell likeat, or ideally, an Alteration Wall that can be comboed with any of the Destruction ones. Regardless, as the Wizard, it's up to you to chose how to implement them. Don't blame the game because you can't think of any better tactic than everone else is using. Try some of these, even with the glitch suit, they're a lot of fun.

Not only more interesting than the single tactic Impact turret, but give you more of a repetoir against a variety of threats. Stagger lock is going to work fine on Dragons, but not so much on a bunch of archers on a fort's walls. I usually Ice Storm them down, then use a combo for the melee in the middle. Impact Turret gets creamed against the typical Giant Camp with 2 of them, and 2-5 Mammoths you can't stagger all at once long enough for your magicka to hold out. So, you can Kite Mine them through bottlenecks so they all have to run through the blast radius at once, or Flame Road them all the way to Sovngard. Even when I am playing Impact, I still sometimes altercast bolts for RoF, and mana efficiency rather than stunlocking 1 target because I'm outnumbered.

Yet again, if you want to play a 1 trick pony, that's fine with me. Just understand that while it's popular, it may not be for everone.
