Crafting for Assassin\Archer?

i'm just playin' my first character that's an assassin/thief style and i've noticed that alchemy and enchanting aren't a big part of my character yet. i'm level 27 and i think i have put 2 perk points on alchemy and enchanting. smithing is really helpful but i have found some armor that i like so i haven't gone very far into that tree though i will have to soon becuase the enemies are getting harder and i need some better weapons. they are all important but you don't have to climb the whole perk tree and waste points.

I'd dial in the other skills, and then worry about crafting, but I know lots of people go the other way 'round. Enchanting seems to be the most useful, once you have access to all the effects you want, which is generally later in the game. The thing is, you only have to Enchant something once, and then you have it for the rest of the game. Weapons have to be topped off with Soul gems as they discharge, but you fill these by killing stuff, which is what weapons are for anyway, so there's some synergy there.

Smithing is not manditory. Yes, it can make some powerful weapons, and armor, but that's it, and it takes an aweful lot of grinding to make it effective. Later in the game, there are creatures where it's nice to have gear leveled past them, but if you like to fight, it'll last longer with base damage, and armor. (Like Ebony, Daedric, and Dragonscale.) If you're going to do it, save it for last.

I don't like Alchemy. It forces me to collect a bunch of flowers, mushrooms, and animal parts to take back to a table, and craft items with temporary effects. You might enjoy that sort of thing, but there's very few Alchemy effects that can't be gotten through Enchanting more permanently, and don't involve exploiting glitches.

This is just my opinions, and I know there are lots of people lined up to argue with me. Listen to them too, and decide for yourself what's right for you.
