What it means to be Dragonborn-- and possible expansions

Since the main character is Dragonborn, that would mean that the throne of the empire is his birthright. So what I'm suggesting, and/or would like to see is an expansion where the Dragonborn seizes the throne and becomes emperor. Thoughts? Suggestions? (By the way, I personally beat the main quest of Skyrim, but please be curteous regarding spoilers for those who have not.) And for those of who finished the Dark Brotherhood quest

the last dragon born was automatically made the emperor. They basically say the whole time that its the dragon born throne

Um not quite... The second empire was formed by Tiber Septim who was a Nord (Though born in some small island nation). Also his earlier life saw him follow some of the same steps that the current Dragonborn does such as climbing the throat of the world where the prophecy was spoken by the greybeards that he would unite the world under his rule as Talos. And he did... by conquest. So Might makes Right might very well work . He also knew how to shout and knew the way of the voice.

So it very possible though unlikely history would repeat itself. This is why the Nords are very reluctant to un-worship Talos cause he from their stock among other reasons. He could use the thu'um and he his prowess in battle won their loyalty back in the day. Thats when he got his conquering army, from Skyrim. Where he went on to conquer the other races of men and vanquished the Elvish overlords.

I sound like a bit of a nerd when i go into detail like that... forgive me. And what Your Dragonborn does is your choice in the end but there are high hopes for DLC we'll see if Beth delivers. I mean we do have a map of Cyrodil and Morrowind in the game so...

The empire does not hold a moot. The jarls of skyrim do, and that is to vote for the new high king or queen of skyrim.

The empire goes by heir.

Hence why I said it probably wouldn't happen even if it was possible. You don't HAVE to be emperor but Dragonborn have been known to be so and the Nords of Skyrim would probably support such a thing...again.

I still think Bethesda should give you the option to. And being the emperor doesn't necessarily mean you have to sit on a throne and do nothing. There are lands to conquer, and Thalmor to kill!

I think you might be right about Morrowind. Hammerfell would be extremely interesting. It would surely be the most unique landmass to date as a TES game/dlc has yet to incorporate a desert. However, Hammerfell doesn't need liberating. They actually successfully pushed the AD out and are no longer part of the empire because they felt betrayed when the empire ceded the land to the AD, one of the terms of the White-Gold Concordat. So, currently Hammerfell is an independent nation.

I would love to get rid of the Thalmor as well. Their arrogance and bigotry is appalling. Being born/living as an elf in the empire at this time would be quite unfair, having to be compared to the Thalmor all of the time. It would drive me nuts lol.

Regarding Hammerfell in a Skyrim DLC, most likely the campaign will involve teaming up with some Redguard to take on the Thalmor, by engaging them directly or indirectly by crippling them in some stealthy manner. Perhaps this is where the Blades come in.

Well the 'first time' it happened it was only the island that was hit. And it wasn't 'glassed' again but it was mercilessly annexed by the Argonians. Not ALL of the Dunmer of Skyrim are Refugges but since there are so many refugees it is as it is.

And I said this somewhere else, but if you want to be technical, Skyrim now holds three races as there 'primary' home. The Dunmer were defeated and most went to Skyrim and the Northern islands, and The Orsimer (Orcs) city Orsinium was conquered by the Redguards and Bretons, and most of the survivors their fled to Skyrim and some to Cyrodil.

So... Skyrim has the Nords (the backbone of the Empire and overall good fighters), Orsimer (Also considered the Military backbone of the Empire and good fighters and smiths much like the Nords), and the Dunmer (outcast even among the other Mer, and some of the best Mages, nercomancers, and warriors around). If Ulfric wasn't such a bigot or the Empire so spineless, if someone *cough* The Dragonborn *cough* could unite these conquered, wartorn, looked down upon races they could form an unholy trinity of a powerful army and nation.

I'm just saying... things could turn out very good for the Dragonborn should he so choose... just saying. But again You don't HAVE to do any of that and knowing the R&D involved with Bethesda development it probably wont happen for quite some time or ever. Heres to hoping they expand things so that you can be and uber badass.

So in short - the chances of founding another Dynasty are slim. Being Dragonborn is not simply something genetic. It's a gift directly from Akatosh. The Septims were all Dragonborn because he allowed them to be. That compact was broken. The Last Dragonborn serves a specific purpose - to stop Alduin. Although, he/she has other fated purposes. I doubt sitting on the throne in Cyrodill is one of them. In fact I'd say it's far more likely he/she will fade into obscurity. There are a few previous instances that make me think this.
