need help with a theives guild mission it wont let me do it

ok so i got a job to steal a valuable diamond from the east empire guy thats in the city that has ulfric stormcloak in it( forgot the citys name) but the guy is in the empty east empire company building.

if any of you dont know who he is he gives you a mission to hunt down pirate bandits that keep stealing his shipments.

anyway you are asked to steal a diamond from him and i went in to the building around midnight hoping to find him asleep you know easy mission. however like during the day time he is awake walking around so i wait 2 hours behind cover and he is still awake so i decide oh well. i put on my pickpocket gear boots that give me 15 percent advantage in pickpocketing, glass gauntlets and necklace that i made that both give me 20 percent better chance to steal.

and i walk up to him undectected and look at the diamond and it says 0 percent chance to steal. i check to make sure i have the armor on and drink a draught of pickpocket for 20 percent better chance and it still says zero and it will not let me take it evey time i try his bodyguard tries to stop me.

and from the look of the diamond it looks like the same diamond you would get from a theif in riften that the townspeople always catch. anyone got any tips

First, I got the perk that gives you a bonus if they are sleeping; that is very important...

Then, I went to all the cities, and stole everything from everyone while they were sleeping; after a while, it really starts paying off, especially if you have the Thief Stone active, and you are well rested, or even better, if you have the Lover's Comfort...

Pickpocket goes up incredibly fast, and I was 100 in no time, and all of sudden, nothing is hard to steal; but remember to save after stealing each object - if you're discovered, just reload, and try again...

More expensive items are worth more to the leveling of the skill, so gems and jewelry are great to steal...

well thanks for responding but a few things i need to mention 1 i wasnt saying i will bring in any diamond in i just ment tht it looked exactly like the others.

second i am a werewolf so i cant be rested, also he never sleeps but i will get tht perk to level up thanks
