Health Potions, What's the Big Deal!?

I've seen and heard about how they can't do certain things because they have no health potions.

And I wonder why people rely so heavily on them, I currently have ~150 health, and have only needed to use them a countable number of times, and that's been mainly when fighting ancients with nothing but a shield, or when I take on pyromancers in beast mode. And well, I can use health pots then...

But yeah, don't people think when they enter combat?

I rarely ever use pots but I sneak 24/7 so I'm rarely ever detected before whatever I'm fighting dies, so~ But when I do get detected, I usually have to pop up and use my greater power or whatever. Orcs with daggers and no AR = squish masters.

I guess I'm just not as uber awesome as many of you beastly hardcore gamers then . . .

Health potions are the main potions I use. Magic, stamina, even poisons kinda collect dust in my inventory. I mostly have resorted to stealth+archery tactics when battling. However, there are some times (especially dragon fights), where I will probably down upwards of 5 health potions when going up against a tough in-ur-face enemy, or chicken mage who likes to throw ice spikes at me and kill me in 2 hits.

It's all about how each person plays. You don't hear me complain about those who have trouble with archery, or find stealth boring, etc.

I think the only trouble I ever had was with magic. Once you buy or enchant some gear with elemental resistances, you will find that the game becomes cake.

Armor rating is everything if youre going to straight up fight. Get as close to that 567 armor number as possible, and either perk into blocking if you use a shield, or enchant the shield itself with +block.

Against Dragons and Mages though, all the armor rating in the world cant help you if you dont have magic resistance. You run headlong into a group of Ice Storm slingers, and its probably lights out for you if you dont have a bundle of health/stamina potions, or perk into restoration where heal spells also restore stamina.

It slows you down, drains your stamina so you cant shield bash to interrupt, and drains your health. If they fling a spear in there, youre probably treated to a scene of your body skidding across the floor with a spear sticking out of your face.
