Magic System Broken

Actually, from what I understand, all resistances are capped at 85%. So you're still taking 15% of the damage a spell deals out. If you combine Magic Resistance with an Elemental Resistance, you can apparently get the overall resistance to just above 97% for that element, but it requires a very specific combination of Enchantments and items to pull off, none of which I can remember off-hand.

then my game is bugged. I take the same damage with a frost potion on of 77% resistance as i do from not using one.

Can't fight the dragon priest. He does 3 attacks to kill me, slows me, im melee and dragon shouts etc dont really harm him.

Resistances dont work against his spells, and if i get near he garanteed to hit me. Dragon shouts do about 100 damage to him or something rubbish like that.


Hes got like 5,000 health. My weapon does 711 dual weild and would take like 10 attacks to kill him or more

Could be the potion thats bugged. I dont have alchemy very high, so ive never even seen a potion that would resist 77%.

Before I levelled my enchanting, I always had some type of gear in my inventory that was created by the game. Like a 30% frost resist necklace, and elven boots of frost resist, and with that stuff, I could pretty much own anything using frost on me.

Shield of flame suppression at 50% resist for fire was all I had equipped to go against fire.

I never really used potions for resistance, so I dont know whats up there.

I would suggest finding some resistance gear, and use that. Its permanent as well, so you dont have that rude awakening of the potion wearing off and you take a massive hit when you thought you should be protected.

In any case, even with frost resist, you will still get slowed by frost attacks. Thats not resistable. Only damage.

I'm going to assume you're playing on Master. The other problem I can see is that you're Dual Wielding. Dual Wielding increases your offensive damage by a wide margin, but you seem to have forgotten that if you can't survive defensively, it's impossible to defeat any opponent.

I just took out Krosis with his Dragon blasting me at the same time, without worrying too much about either one of them killing me. I'm playing on Adept, of course, so that likely has something to do with it. The other neat thing that I do though: I use a shield, with Block perks. There are two perks specifically which make elemental attacks somewhat of a joke. I'm still not sure exactly how the math works(I'd love to know if anyone is aware of this information having been recorded somewhere already). The first perk Elemental Protection(Reduce incoming Fire, Frost, and Shock damage by 50%). Whether this takes place before, after, additionally, or cumulatively with other resistances is not irrelevant, but however it works, it helps(a lot). The other perk is Block Runner(Able to move faster with a shield raised). These two combined(in addition to my other resistances) allow me to resist most of his damage, while still being able to keep him within melee range almost constantly. The only problem I had was that his fireballs cause momentary loss of field of vision, hiding him behind the blast until it subsides. The only other thing potentially helping me out is my weapon enchant of Absorb Health. It's only 8 points, but it's 8 points more health every time I hit him.

I also wanted to ask about your stamina. You said you have quite a bit of stamina, which seems to suggest you've been pumping most of your level up increases into it. This might also mean your health is quite low. So, for further evaluation, I'd ask what your current stats are, across the board. Mine follow, for reference(they were a bit lower when I did this, but not by much):

Level: 39
Health: 390(453 total with Active Effects)
Magicka: 110
Stamina: 180
Fire Resist: 23%
Frost Resist: 0
Shock Resist: 0
Fortify Health: 63
Health Regeneration: 20%
Resist Magic: 25%

For the record, I refilled my health twice with potions before I downed Krosis.
