	Log in to remove this advertisement Thinking of picking up Skyrim today but unsure which road to take. Not very interested in battlemage per se, but just can't decide whether being a pure mage or pure warrior. In your opinion, what is the best/most fun? I understand that whatever I pick will be shaped by the way I play the game, but as a starting point, where do you think I should be heading? -------------------

	Games like these you can choose anything you want. I suggest going the route of a battlemage, as it would be the most efficient. Destruction, Restoration, One-handed, and light armor should do you quite well. I also suggest Conjuration for soultrapping to enchant your gear. ------------------- >:I

	Is there no real benefit in just being a pure mage, or would that just be making things difficult for myself? I was thinking a mage armed with a bow and arrow... -------------------

	You wouldn't be at a disadvantage there when fighting Dragons, but I feel a battlemage would be best equipped to fight a dragon. Though, a pure mage would do just as well. I play a plain Warrior class. Two-Handed heavy armor orc. ------------------- >:I

	once you get 100 conjuration mages are awesome or mine is. what I did was put all levels into magicka up untill 500 magicka then get health to bout 400-500ish. then switch between the two. and at lvl 100 you can summon two summons and if you happen to find them the master summon spells summon then permanently. idk if that means until they die or they have no health meter. idk. also with mage you can get bound 2H wep dual bound 1H or 1 1H or bound bow.. mages can do bout anything. I use bows for ranged sneak kills, and magic for close quarters generally. One can back up the other in cases too. Like last night I fought a blood dragon for the first time. I didn't have much in the way of health and magicka potions, and the dragon was shrugging off my magic attacks. In the end I tried just taking him down with a bow and arrow and using fast healing spell to regenerate magic when I needed. He wouldn't have been so damned tough if he didn't set the environment on fire too (lots of shrubbery and grass around). The Unrelenting Force (level 2) was useful against him, as it staggered his attack. The last time I used a sword as a necessity, it was that Orcish Blade of Siphoning (each strike drains 10 magicka). I used it when I was in a den of mages and my own magicka ran dry. I only used it to finish off a couple of weakened enemies (One I nearly killed by myself with magic, and the other was fighting my resurrected adept mage). Yeah, Conjuration is ace, but try to avoid the slow moving monsters (I find the Flame Atronach is bloody useless, because she moves at the pace of molasses). Being a necromancer has its advantages, I wouldn't have survived that mage infested fort without "Revive Zombie" + Conjuration Dual Casting. ------------------- α Ω Blood Dragon ~\| Rift \|~ Starbound

	If you're going warrior, definitely get smithing as well. You'll need some good damage absorption if you plan on taking on anything in melee. Warriors get extremely heavy damage, finisher moves that can occasionally one-hit kill anything even if they have full health, critical hits, staggering and stunning blows, and very efficient blocking. Mages get a tactical advantage. Tons of spells, the ability to turn things on each other, magical landmines, enchanting weapons and armor, including bows, dual-casting for powerful spells, ranged attacks, and a lot of nukes. They have magical shields that remove the brunt of damage and reduce the rest, and as said before, they have easy sidekicks to take the aggression off them and help in battle. So it comes down to this: warrior if you wanna be a one-man army, mage if you want to be a tactician.

	lol at superfluous use of "per se". Due to skill trees and perks, it stands to reason that a "pure" character would be much stronger. If you spread out your perks too much you will never really get the best perks for anything. ------------------- Take a chill pill

	currently pure mage level 17 and only put points into mana and destruction spells. only three spells I use are (dual) firebolt, fireball, and fire rune. I roast dragons/trolls and clear dungeons with ease... playing at default difficulty so that might have something to do with it, but just saying mage might be OP and make the game too easy.

	You have 80 skill points to spend. As long as you max your alchemy smithing and enchanting, you can pretty much piss away your skill points on whatever sounds fun.
