Just when I was getting hyped for this game, I had to go and look at the official trailer with it's DAMN STUPID 18 RATING!!!
My Mom is going to take a LOT of convincing to get this.
Is it possible for it to be 16 by release? It said provisional rating...So i am hoping it'll change.
I feel like crap now because of stupid pegi....
Anyone else hate pegi?

I don't care how great the game is, if you don't meet the restrictions on the rating, and your parent/guardian cares enough to pay attention to such things, you shouldn't be playing it.

Maybe it's not that big of a deal in the UK, but over here there's a big issue the media is making about minors getting their hands on mature rated games (M rating = 18 rating). The culprit is the aforementioned morons-with-12-year-olds, but the politicians don't care. Just recently, the Supreme Court smacked down a law that stripped games of their 1st amendment protection (freedom of speech). While this can be considered a victory, the court said it would be willing to consider a similar law if it was structured differently.

So at anytime, we American gamers are in danger of the medium we love being denied the same protection as books, movies, comics, etc. If you want to avoid that don't play 18 rated games if you're underage.

Who pays attention to game ratings anyway? When I pre-ordered they guy had no problem with my age, and I'm under 18.

Though I do agree with Krantos, giving Black Ops to twelve-year-olds is a very bad idea. My bro's only nine and he's now a corrupt little brat who thinks that it's nothing serious if you kill the civilians on a video game.

Yeah I hate all those dumb 12 year old yanks too, in fact any kid that plays an 18 rated game and make it obvious that they're too young to play. Not only with their age, but their actual maturity level.

Though this does make me look like a horrible hypocrite, which I'm fine with, because I was able to handle games like Doom and GTA back when I were a lad, starting around 8 years old. Doom scared me shitless and still does, GTA was fun, I got to take out all my frustrations with no negative consequences that could come back to bite me in the ass. My kill count in real life is limited to insects and spiders.

I'm one of those people who hates it when professionals blame videogames for a degredation for society without paying attention to eveything else that contributed to the decay of social interaction. Such as the people they're talking about, their parents/guardians and many other factors that have an affect on the growth of a person's mindset. For example, how did a 5 year old get hold of Manhunt? People should go back to taking responsability for their own actions, this blame and claim culture is one of the worst things to come out of America.

Just from you guys saying other countries have dumb parents, it pretty much proves your countries' parents are just as dumb. Think about it. We, gamers, are all in this together, why segregate us into nations?
