A huge patch is incoming in Minecraft XBLA's Title Update 7, bringing the console port up to PC Minecraft's release version 1.0.1. This patch is the infamous "The End" patch, which added the poem that bewildered the Minecraft community, but XBLA players can rest easy as "The End" portion of the patch has been delayed to Title Update 8. There's still plenty left though, including the mushroom biome and its indigenous population of mooshrooms. Harvest them shrooms!
Here's a list of highlighted features which are guaranteed to be in Title Update 7 (for a list of comparable changes from the PC version check out patch 1.0.0):
- Animal Breeding
- Potion Brewing
- Experience Points
- Enchantment Table
- Mushroom Biome
- Nether Fortress
- New Tutorial World
- Snow Golems
- Magma Cubes
- Baby Animals
Keep in mind that if order to see some of the non-craftable or spawning content from the patch, Minecraft XBLA players will have to recreate their worlds. That means mushroom biomes won't just randomly pop up in your fully mapped world. If there are areas of your world that haven't been mapped yet, mushroom biomes may still spawn, but no promises unless you recreate the world.
Everyone should definitely be excited about animal breeding and enchantment tables though, as they add some extra quirky gameplay to the mix that's different than other content. And make sure to punch a villager when you get the change, they deserve it.
There's no current release date for Minecraft XBLA's Title Update 7, so don't get too excited yet. Take your time and say goodbye to your current creations, finish off that tower to the moon and take a picture. Then get prepared to erase it all for a bunch of fun new toys.
