I agree, the community is great, although I'm not sure if that benefit is worth the cost of Leo City not growing beyond it's current point. With more guests actually wanting to stay and return, the more chances of LC growing and becoming fun for everyone.

I have noticed that which is why I had proposed to Toxic about a Spawn map a few meetings ago. I'd be an impressive town that there is a border so no one can explore on it and not lag the server. 1 map with about a 500x500 area that we can use as a spawn in which our best builders you, Deadbob777 and possibly another member could build a glorious spawn tower with all the rules in it and various areas for trading, listing warps, and various other purposeful rooms.

I have to agree with you on this. The only reason I set up the builder class with creative mode is because a lot of the members enjoyed having a creative map but the server couldn't run it anymore and I chose survival instead because it gives the game a purpose more so then creative mode does. Perhaps setting up a limited creative mode area away from spawn would be better? That way you guys can build to your hearts desire and if the whole server likes the idea of moving it near spawn we could do that..

cheeseman, I had one built a while back, the files for it are still on the server but I need to figure out how I am going to manage running that map alongside the main map. Once that issue is resolved I have no problem.

The only other alternative would be to have spawn moved to a new location, which the more I think about it the more I like the idea, then we could have a portal or something to take you out of there.. (such as signports but they only to go to places like Paradise, Spawn Island, GooseValley, Venice, etc. instead of allowing everyone to place them to wherever they want.)

Yeah, Tox, I think having a new spawn island would be a great idea. And like, to populate it when builds, members can build something off of the island and ask about having it placed there.

Or, perhaps, you could tell people what you want to see there, have them build it off of the island, and then you can decide whether or not it's up to snuff to being there.

Wouldn't mobs spawn inside of it, so long as it's interior rooms are dark, regardless of the building's location?

mobs do spawn better in the dark then in the light but how many spawn works just like a spawner, if there isn't a player around they won't spawn because (usually) the chunk isn't even loaded.. that's what cheeseman is worried about, if we move spawn then there wont be any players around his structure to spawn the mobs inside of it.

The way i see it we have two options right now, 1) Move the spawn to a new part of the map or a new map with borders or 2) Improve the look of the current spawn/Remove unnecessary buildings. Personally the latter seems a better option.

If we remove some of the cobblestone cube structures, and improve the look of other structures it should make a vast difference to the spawn. In the case of the spawner, adding detail with endstone or sandstone such as 'LEOCITY' along a side or 'supports' will make it look 100 times better. Getting rid of the half finished, frankly terrible builds will also help.

A more structured pattern to the spawn might help, maybe we have a 'shops' section, a faction HQs/faction buildings section, and then a residential section. Giving more defined limits to the 'shops' and 'factions' section and then letting the residentials more free form by still with some limits. (More than one block, no cobblestone cubes, must have a path, must have outside lighting). All of those things will improve the spawn dramatically.
