	A ceiling simply refers to 'the top' or as a web definition defines it, "Absolute ceiling". As in, 'maximum height'. It's a meteorological term (there are a few meanings to it). Lol, I wonder if you can actually hit the stars in the sky? I'd guess you'd need something like a full complement of blocks to get that high. In any case, build it next to a body of water, so you can jump off safely....Then again, I think height affects how far you shoot down underwater when you land. 	Well, I more or less answered my own question, it seems. I was building my glass tower, and it seems I've hit it. OK, assume you're on average height ground (so just above the sea a bit), now, see how high the clouds are? Well, the distance from the ground to the clouds plus about 1/3rd = absolute ceiling. Basically, it's about 1.33 * C (where C = cloud height). To get the actual size, one could dig as far down as one can (until they encounter indestructible blocks, trying to find the lowest one), and then building a tower using bricks. You could probably hit max ceiling with a couple item blocks of bricks (so 128 bricks would be more than enough, I think, and 192 would be enough, definitely). ------------------- α Ω Blood Dragon ~\| Rift \|~ Starbound

	I've found no matter where you really start, the ceiling isnt too far from ground height. When I built a tower, it was only a few floors above the clouds. The ceiling should be the same no matter where you start building, its not a specific height of what ever you are building, just the height of the map. -------------------

	I know that? But you could determine the total height (in blocks) by digging down as far as you can, finding the lowest point (without searching for hours of course), and then adding block after block until you can add no more. Like I said, the ceiling is roughly ground height x1.33. Ground height, as I said, is just above sea level in this case. 	I think I recall reading that it is something like 68 blocks high and 68 blocks down. though it is possible to fall through the floor to your death if you manage to find an opening

I thought you mean the ceiling was 1.33x ground height no matter how high above the ground you were. Those blocks can be pretty big when you start stacking them all ontop of each other. I've seen some pretty tall towers that didnt even reach the clouds before. Its mostly about perception, if you are on the ground and looking up at a massive tower, it will look really tall. I did some googling and it was hard to come up with a good answer for the map height as it has been changed a few times. I think right now, the maps are 256 blocks high from the very bottom to the very top (very bottom, as in how far down you can dig). If sea level was exactly in between them, then that would mean the map height would be somewhere around 128 blocks above sea level. 256blocks sounds a lot better than 64 blocks, I think that may have been the height in classic. -------------------

	It would explain why it feels higher than 64 blocks anyhow. I really should go to the top of my partially completed tower (I lowered it to just below the ceiling, to leave myself some room) and count the number of blocks on my way down. I could round to the nearest obvious amount (IE: 64 or 128) to determine what the height from the sea level (IE: middle, I assume sea is intended to be middle or thereabouts). I wonder though, maybe the height from sea level to deepest normal depth (no void area) hasn't been changed, and all the extra blocks go to height? 	I've just started building a sort of "staircase to the heavens". I've only just got above the clouds.. it's so pretty and nice. I'm gonna keep going til it won't let me go higher. The awesome thing is, it's above water now... and will be for a long time. I fall down occasionally. But.. it's kind of a nice rush, and I dive in... not hurt at all. I'm currently in peaceful mode. I'm gonna built my house at the top... the limit.. Then I'll probably let the monsters roll
