Need help in buying an android phone!

I can't decide what should I be buying? I have these choices.... If You were in my place, what would you pick and why?
1. Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V
2. HTC Desire HD
3. HTC ONE V
4. *Any phone you suggest of the same price range as of other 3 phones*
I have heard that HD consumes the battery life very much and in ONE V there are some lags when browsing. I haven't heard any complains about Sony's Neo V and I'm thinking of buying it. Am I going for the right choice?

I'd go for the Nexus off contract. The One-X is a lovely phone, but you'll get raped if you're on a single-plan 2 year deal for a phone that will probably be outdone sooner than later, as most HTC phones are.

Nexus coming straight from Google will ensure timely updates. Granted there are drawbacks with the Nexus but you can't possibly get more Android than a Google-made phone tbh.

Bri, all Android phones are out done sooner rather than later, not just HTC models. The One X is a great phone on par with the new S3 which is a hardware improvement over the Galaxy Nexus. Given his choices there, I'd assume he is on a budget and most off contract phones don't fit into a budget upfront.

I'd say go with the One V.

If he is on a budget, that's even more reason to go off-contract. The relatively nice price for such a good phone is more than made-up by how much cell-phone companies rip you off over the course of a two year contract. You bleed money, are subjugate to surprise changes in your contract (which you HAVE to accept as per the contract) and when it's over, the One-V will be old news. Good luck getting anything close to MSRP for it on eBay in 24 months, it is a reflection of how rapidly technology evolves. The main exception is the iPhone. They hold their value quite well as you know, but even then, I wouldn't sign the dotted line.

OP, I am making it clear I'm not hating on the One-V. It's a great phone and it has amazing specs. I'm just saying it may be in your interest to pursue a maybe mid-range Android prepaid that makes calls, texts and browses the internet...which is what many phones can do well. Doesn't have to be top of the line, and believe me, you save big $$$.

I have T-Mobile prepaid in the US, lol. You're right. I know, but a service called Straight Talk does utilize AT&T/T-Mobile GSM Towers for $45 a month, unlimited everything and 2GB of HSPA+ data (though it is branded as unlimited. Long story.) I plan on jumping ship, it is actually about $10 less a month, but even then, I'm paying $50 a month less than my friend under contract.

Straight Talk as explained, and actually on my end, the T-Mobile service gives me far superior service than Sprint, which is what I was cursed with before, under contract. Coverage really depends on the area, and T-Mobile doesn't hound you with junk mail like AT&T/Sprint/Verizon do to boot. I appreciate an empty mailbox now and again.

For the first point...conceded. It is just more convenient to pay over time, I may save money on prepaid, but I still have to utilize my credit card for other things rather than outright buy them in cash. I'm just giving the OP a different perspective, because at least I know what I'm getting into with my credit card...postpaid contracts...it was a nightmare with both AT&T and Sprint. Lord, I am so happy to be free. OP, if you do sign the contract...understand what you're committing to.

LOVE IT. GTFO in November and never look back, bills are only going to get worse because these companies will not hesitate to cut data (Verizon just killed the grandfathered plans) and jack up prices for no reason (Sprint did this to me). And the average consumer has no choice but to accept it because they signed a contract stating the company can pretty much do what they want - and have to pay for it. Either that, or pay a $350 ETF...which could have gone towards and maybe even pay for a great phone off-contract in the first place.

About a few years ago, this could have flown for me. But Sprint has been losing a lot of customers because of the iPhone data hogs crushing the network in many cities since they got them. I tried everything in the book just last January, and not only wouldn't they budge, they gave me serious attitude. I quote: "You signed the contract, deal with it [the bad reception]." So I told Sprint to deal with my middle finger. I bit the bullet ($150 because I had a little over 7 months left in the contract), but you know what? No regrets, no more headaches, surprise fees, taxes and my call quality has improved considerably. Never again will I sign a contract.

Get a Droid Razr Maxx. Good battery life. If you're not interested in battery life, ggo with thw other suggestions
