Gameplay Video Thoughts

I'm a bit behind the times, but last week I caught up with some DMC news. Gonna tag some people in case they've not seen it. Brokenknights, Daisy, Dantess26, Existence, Fyrestorm, and Sphinx.

There was a playthrough at E3 of a demo, which is possibly the first level or so and a boss fight.

My immediate reaction to it is that the gameplay mechanics definitely look DMC, which is reassuring. The angel and devil whips really look like they could open the door for a lot of potentially interesting stuff. There's the obvious use in combos and fighting enemies of course, but I wonder if in, say, boss fights we'll be able to use them (the angel one in particular) to move around the area. That would probably be handy especially if the bosses continue to be huge.

Those initial three weapons look relatively interesting, though I've always found it hard to get a true feeling from just watching. I usually have to get my hands on them to get a true feel for how they behave in a fight or a crowd.

So what are your thoughts on the gameplay that we've seen thus far?

Gosh, looking at more and more gameplay of DmC, Ninja Theory are so talented in their animation, character modelling and environments!

Weapon-wise, I'm loving the demon weapon (the axe). Giving the player different weapons that aren't just superfaststylishmegacombohacknslash, and are a little slower, gets a big thumbs up from me. Reminds me of Onimusha. Injecting heavier weapons such as hammers or axes that are more powerful but slower to execute is something this franchise has been needing for a while.

Overrall I think the gameplay shown so far has been good, but maybe I was expecting a little more? I understand they don't wanna alient ALL their fanbase, but the gameplay looks VERY familiar. Whether that's a good thing or not, is up to the individual I guess
