Nintendo announced today that the re-release of the classic Super Mario collection will now also be brought to the U.S. Super Mario All-Stars was originally released on the Super Nintendo and included Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels all upgraded to SNES quality graphics. The Lost Levels is what Japan knows as Super Mario Bros. 2, with North America's version actually a re-skinned Doki Doki Panic. Nintendo was afraid that The Lost Levels would be too hard for overseas audiences. So now's your chance to experience the extreme difficulty of... gasp... poison mushrooms that will actually make you smaller when you eat them! The Super Mario All-Stars limited edition includes the original collection of four games on a single Wii disc, but also adds a few bonuses inside the box. Buyers get the Super Mario History soundtrack CD, which is a collection of Mario's musical accompaniments through his entire videogame life. Also included is the Super Mario History booklet that features lots of behind-the-scenes details on Super Mario Bros.'s history, including secrets such as how Mario used to be a space marine. The collection can be played through any control method that you wish, whether it be Classic Controller, GameCube controller, or Wii Remote. All this, my friends, for the price of $29.99. That's about $10 more than the individual prices of each game if purchased on the Wii's Virutal Console, so it's not a bad deal considering the bonus content. 	Not only is it a good deal, but graphically, they're the better versions (the 16-bit version) than what you get on the Virtual Console if you buy each game separately (the 8-bit versions). I read at G4 that the game will get some kind of "enhanced and updated" appearance, probably just little polishes here and there to look better on the Wii. Can't wait either way. Price is amazing as I'd honestly think they would have released this at the normal $49.99 price tag, especially since it's a limited edition release with a CD and booklet. -------------------

That's the one thing that I really like about this. The games don't even add up to the price tag they want to sell the game at. But the CD and booklet make it actually worth it. 	I'm going to play the shit out of this when it's released. Giggity! Since each game can be beat within a fairly significant short amount of time (the original Super Mario Bros can be legitimately beat in 6 minutes lol) I'm going to speed-run through them all constantly. A nice change of pace from constantly playing New Super Mario Bros Wii. Can beat that game from beginning to end in between 30-40 minutes depending on how well I do, so it's going to be nice to have this finally available since I prefer the 16-bit to the 8-bit versions, which I seem to avoid playing on the VC. Just gotten too used to the 16-bit versions since I play them all the time on the DS. lol. What's funny about the Lost Levels never being released here, it was still imported. As a kid, I remember going to the local video store (awww, how I miss those days ) and seeing this strange cartridge case with a ribbon on it. It was Mario 2 or the Lost Levels as it's now known to be called. There was no indention on it to grab it at the top of the cartridge like all NES cartridges were made with, so if you put the game in you had to make sure the ribbon was sticking out otherwise there was no way for you to pull the game out of your system unless you used pliers. -------------------

	I actually am a friend with the guy who has the world record for the original SMB speed run. I know I'll probably be trying to speed through the games and see how fast I can beat them. I never actually beat SMB2 or the Lost Levels. So those two will be new for me. I've beaten the first and third numerous times but I don't know if I will be able to beat them in one go like I use to. I may be a bit rusty. Kind of a shame they didn't remake Super Mario World. They did do an All Stars with SMW. ------------------- When You Go Astray, I'll Be There To Punch You Back!

	I've wanted a revamped Super Mario World for a while too. When NSMBWii was announced to have a return of Yoshi, I specifically thought it'd be more like Super Mario World. One of my only gripes about NSMBWii is that you can't play Yoshi into the next level. They could have at least added in more levels with him in it instead at the very least. Well, my other gripe is the two Toads. They could have put glasses on one of them or made Wario playable instead. Or something. Two Toads was dumb. Should have postponed it and worked out how to make Peach or Daisy playable. -------------------

	It would of been nice if they did have Super Mario World included but I can understand why they didn't include it. They're keeping it more to the main Mario Bros series as the first game is 25 years old and that's what the whole port is based on.
