Languages

I'm only fluent in English. I've taken four years of Spanish in High School as well, but I wouldn't say I'm fluent from that, of course. x3

I'd like to learn German and Japanese someday. :o

Only fluent in English, but I've been taking Spanish for what seems like my entire school career. I'm not fluent in it, but I really wish I was. The problem is that I don't think any more Spanish classes at school will help me with it. The only way to really become fluent with it is to like actually go to a Spanish-speaking country, or study the language every day, or even that Rosetta Stone stuff. Simple Spanish classes at school have done me nothing ;_; even though they're honors. I can speak a little bit of it and have a pretty good grasp on the grammar and stuff, but my vocabulary is really, really weak.

Also whenever I hear Hispanics talking in extremely fast Spanish I feel like I should be able to understand some of it but I can't at all. If people would maybe slow it down a bit I'd be better. ;-;

And other than that, no. I see no real need for me to take up any other languages. o:

I only speak English with any kind of competency at all, but I'm in Spanish and French at school(I was the only white kid I knew until I moved to this region of Frigstupidstan, so I grew up hearing actual Spanish-speakers all the time). I should be looking into Japanese or Korean at this point too, but I'm lazy and Borderlands 2 is just around the corner.

french is what im taking, but sadly i am forgetting almost everything. I guess i gotta whip out that old french book once again and study it. c'est la vie, non?

My first language is Spanish. I have been learning English all my life. But believe it or not my English became fluent when I started posting on Neo 6 years ago. You learn a lot when people make fun of you because of your poor English.

I should be fluent in German, because my grandfather is from Austria. He told my mother he would talk to his grandchildren in German so they would learn from childhood to adulthood. He never did and I can't speak such a wonderful language now. But I'm planning on picking it up eventually, even if that means doing it on my own.

I used to take Japanese classes but I had to drop them because I was failing in school. That was a long time ago when I was still in high school. I will pick Japanese up again sometime.

I love languages. I wish I could live long enough to learn every single language on Earth.

Chaos Team, the trick is to "use" Spanish (or whatever language you are learning) wherever possible. My computers are in English, my phone's interface is in English, my videogame systems are in English, I play games in English, I read books in English, and I write in English. Try setting all your tech stuff in Spanish. Try to think in Spanish. Get videogames in Spanish. Read and write in Spanish. Even forum interactions in Spanish will help you get better at it. The Spanish slang varies a lot depending on what country you are visiting, so actually visiting one country for a while won't do much good as doing everything I said above will.

That's a piece of advice I give to everyone who is learning a language. After all, it worked for me and I don't see why it wouldn't work for anyone else.

I don't speak any other languages fluently but I know te reo Maori, French and Spanish.

I only speak English fluently, sadly. I learned Irish for 14 years so I'm nearly there with than language. Then I learnt German for six years but lacked the time to keep it on in University. I should of considering learning it was the easiest thing I've ever experienced. Irish is awful to learn but German just flew in.
