Pokémon Neowiki - FAQ and Discussion - Page 6

Guys, can we keep it nice, please? It's not like the discussion isn't going anywhere, which is why I'm not deleting anything, but cut the attitude. We're all friends, or used to be.

Anyways, my problem is the SA comes around asking for suggestions, and when we give them, he's all "Stop telling me how to run my wiki!" I think I might just going to give up on the wiki all-together.

First things first; Oblisk, I've explained this crap to you more than once. Just because Luke can come out here and flame like the troll he is, you decide to 100% agree with him when we both know that it's not true. I never told you to stop telling me how to run my wiki. It's not my wiki. It's not your wiki.

I'm sick of dealing with you, since you know what you've done for Pokéwiki since you demoted? Shit. Neither you nor Oblisk knows what's going on in my mind, Origin's mind or Avalith's mind, so both of you can shut up or get out.

Oblisk, I want you on the wiki, but I'm tired of arguing with you every single time I log on. You can quit if you're going to keep doing this. Oh, wait a minute...? I haven't seen you do anything for this wiki except complain about it yet. >.> Maybe you can step up your work instead of threatening to quit complaining. Personally, I'd love it if you'd quit complaining. Just sayin'.

Edit: Oh yeah, when the hell did I scream at you for not running the wiki right? Yeah, I told you I hated the way you ran the wiki. Everytime I do that, you retaliate.

I state again; I'm open to suggestions. Whether you guys want to debate about that is your choice, but I am. However, this one with the Bulbapedia stuff is useless in my mind, and from what I see, I'm the only who actually gives a damn about the wiki enough to do anything about it.

There are forums, FAQs and members that'll gladly help you (without the Karis demeanor ). I've always left myself open to people who acatually need the help and after a few PMs they're well on their way. Just recently I've helped people like Disillusioned and screamingabdabs and they've gone onto be wikistaff. So yeah, if you really are stuck and don't want Karis yelling at you (which he will and can't deny ) then you can always come to me. ^___^ Or at least, I'd like to think you could come to me.

Super admin*. It'd be best to not call us supermods as that may confuse people who are unfamiliar with the actual forum supermoderator team.

Now that that's out of the way, here's my take on things:

Staff aren't the only ones who can contribute to a wiki. If you guys have an idea for a page that's relevant, go ahead! Things can be deleted and restored easily with wikis and everything is logged, so it's easy to tell who's being a dick with their staff status and who's actually using it properly. If it's something major, please run it by the staff first, but if you've got some information that you feel should be added to a page, nobody's stopping you from adding it. If you want a numerical Pokemon index, I personally think it's a great idea and would find it very useful to have everything listed in numerical order in addition to alphabetical. I don't want to scroll all the way down to "P" for Pikachu when I can just search for number 025 on a numerical index.

Nobody should ever feel intimidated or turned off by staff members or their responses to an idea. That's why we have a wiki superadmin team to oversee and guide the general direction of all wikis as well as handle staffing an other management-related issues. We're not afraid to step in and give our opinion on something, nor are we going to belittle or scold you for coming to us about anything. A wiki is owned, run, and maintained by the community, not any one individual. Staff members are appointed because the administration feels they are able to professionally and courteously guide the wiki's contributors and be a first point of contact for issues that may come about between contributors. In that sense, they're essentially a team of moderators. When an individual or a team tries to dictate what happens on a wiki, contributors get fed up and leave, thus halting progress. Halted progress, especially on a wiki that has as much potential as Pokemon, is definitely something we never want to see and the wiki administration will take every action necessary to keep things from reaching that point if we are able to do so. If this means we need to remove staff members, we'll do it.

Be honest. If you went to Google, and typed in anything that you could get a quick response/answer/link to, what would be the first thing you'd click on? first result, second result, third result...? I meant advertise around Neoseeker...we'll work on the bigger stuff later. But, as you can see from my other point, nobody actually uses these wikis. Nobody uses them anywhere near as much as Wikia. That goes for every Neowiki (except MAYBE PES and MTG).

This is incorrect. As you mentioned, PES is one of the premier sites for information on the Internet for the franchise. Similarly, our White Knight Chronicles wiki, although severely lacking in information concerning higher guild ranks in the game, is one of the most widely recommended wiki sites for the game anywhere. I've seen GameFAQs recommend our WKC wiki as well as have seen numerous posts about it on the in-game message boards and players' logs. There are other NeoWikis that get a lot of traffic due to their information.

Is the project of fleshing out every Pokemon page (save for 5th generation) complete yet? If not, I could assist in overhauling the blank or scarcely-fleshed pages if someone could give me a template to set each page to. If I'm not mistaken - please, in humble honesty correct me if I'm 'uninformed' - as far as like pages go, it's a simple act of plugging things into a template, right? I can pretty much say that I am satisfactory at doing tedious, repetitive work.

I've overhauled a few pages before, but I will require someone to tidy up and tie loose ends on whatever I leave in my wake, that being only if I get my hands on something to conform to each page.

Also neglecting to mention that the wiki, staff team, contributors (past and present), and projects in general, are an embarassment. Nothing is going to fix it, man.
