Developer Runic Games is swaggering about with an infographic showing how much bigger Torchlight 2 is over the original Torchlight. Turns out quite a bit: all elements highlighted -- from unique areas to items -- sport at least a 72% increase, and one (unique areas) is up to a whopping 529%.
In total, it's said the game is roughly four times the size of its predecessor asset-wise. If you've been wondering why it's taking so long, that should help explain it.
You can see the full graphic here; the highlights of the highlights for me are 148 vs 47 monster abilities, 27 vs 9 boss battles, 44 vs 7 unique areas, and 120 vs 60 player skills.
So, where monotony was an issue in Torchlight, it's looking like that won't be the case at all in Torchlight 2.
