Salutations Football Manager players, junkies and addicts and welcome to the Football Manager 2011 forum. It is always an excellent idea to have the rules and important posts at hand in a forum as busy as this one so feel free to utilize this thread first for all of your questions and needs. Firstly, I would like you to read the sitewide rules for conduct and etiquette if you haven't already as those obviously apply to the forum at all times. In addition to those, there are a few forum house rules that we also like everyone to adhere to...it makes everyone's life easier if you do and it will get you a much quicker reply to your question or comment.

Memberating/Linking Other Members

While we try to keep everything organized and in its proper place around here sometimes people will post questions or comments in the wrong section of the forum. Feel free to direct them to the appropriate location if you absolutely must but please also attempt to answer their question when you do. In most cases it is far better to leave the actual linking and moving of threads to the mod team though, no one likes a busybody.

Posting Style

Do not type as if you're sending a text message from your mobile phone. You have a full sized QWERTY keyboard, so use it correctly. Any txt/sms posts will be edited accordingly, and the originator of the post will get a warning. Repeated warnings will result in a ban.

Internet abbreviations such as "LOL", "ROTFL", "IMO" and "IIRC" are not subject to this rule.

Replying To Spam

This is a pretty obvious but commonly violated rule. Please don't reply to spam threads, no matter how funny it may be. If someone has posted a thread purely to provoke bad responses, or to be a general pest to the community, report the post and leave it. Replying to it is just adding to the spam and not helping the situation at all.

Flaming

Please do not flame other members on Neoseeker, there is no place on Neoseeker for discussions and arguments that involve petty insults and harsh flaming. If you have a problem with another member you can easily contact a supermod if you require immediate mediation(listed below). I have never been a fan of zero tolerance rules so they won't apply here but I also have a short leash for personal insults. Expect a quick warning and/or a ban.

Spamming & Flooding

Again, most of the regulars should be familiar with the rules of no spamming or flooding the forum. Spamming is making irrelevant, off-topic posts that don't belong in the thread you're posting in. Spamming to increase post count will not be tolerated and will be most likely treated with a PPD restriction.

Flooding the forum is posting many, many times in a short space of time. It's usually done so that the person doing it can have their name attached to the end of each thread in the forum. If your posts offer nothing and you're clearly doing this, they will be deleted and you will be warned.

Duplicate Threads

Please look through the thread index before making a thread, unless of course your thread is about your specific game and therefore won't be in the thread index. It saves time and hassle; if you make a duplicate thread it will be closed and set for deletion and you will be linked to the original. Of course, I'm not going to try grouping all discussion together so this rule will be more relaxed than it may seem.

Accusing Members Of Cheating

It's common for members to post up achievements they have made in their games on Football Manager, and a lot of these achievements are very hard. Now, you may consider the member showing off how well he has done in his game to have cheated, however it is completely detrimental to the thread and the forum itself to create a post saying "How could you have won that many games with Blackpool? Sorry, but you've cheated". This only sparks arguments - as other members will see your post and just jump on the bandwagon and begin to accuse the member of cheating and the thread will just turn into a volatile argument. If you don't agree with somebody's post, then you should just ignore it, instead of ruining their thread. If something is bothering you enough to make you want to post, it's vital that you construct it in a non-accusatory manner, i.e. "That's a stunning set of results, but could I see the manager history of Liverpool, just to reassure me of any worries I've got?" That way, arguments won't start, as you are being polite and not posting in a way people will take offence to.

If any of the forum moderator's catch you making an accusatory and argumentative post, it will be deleted and you will be warned once. If you continue to post that way, you will receive a ban from the forum. It is also vital that if members see a post that will start arguments, they report it and remove it from view. This way you can help to keep a thread civil and friendly and can leave it to the moderator's to sort the member out.

Competitions

In order to be elegible to host a competition in the FM11 forum, you must draft the first post of said competition and PM it to any forum moderator. The moderator's will then deliberate whether the proposed competition will or won't be added to the forum competition list. Make the first draft presentable and think about the staying power of the competition before even thinking of entering it for inspection. Any competition that is deemed suitable for the forum will be placed on to the waiting list. Here it will stay until a moderator says that it can be opened on the main board. Failure to adhere to these rules will be frowned upon and may reduce your chances of hosting or joining a competition in the future. Post count restrictions and member invitations are allowed within reason. These will be to the disgression of the forum moderators.
