Can someone tell me how the hell they managed to screw this one up? It's a grand idea...a revamped RPG with all new bells and whistles to play around with..the graphics and story are solid, and the score is good. So how the hell did they manage to overlook something as trivial as the camera angle.
Seriously, this camera is AWEFUL. They have built a game where if the enemy sees you before you see him, he gets the advantage in battle. And then, they made the camera so that 90% of the time (literally) it's facing the wrong way. As in, "in your face, you can see everything behind you but nothing in front of you" wrong. How was this overlooked? Just a big red flag that says "we don't really know how to make a game." And the battle system. Its horribly, horribly slow. Unnecessary pauses abound, half the time you aren't doing anything, and the enemy isn't doing anything either. You're standing around watching some stupid little "powerup" cinematic that every single participant goes through every single time they attack. Lame. And the dialogue in-battle? Even worse. Each person has 2, maybe 3 different things they can say. And they say all of them at least once, sometimes twice, in every battle. wtf? Third: The voice acting. I'm not going to go into detail on this one, I'll just trust that everyone knows really bad voices when they hear them. Overall a good solid game that got screwed up by someone who has no idea what they're doing. ------------------- ![]() Obey Your Master "ShadowMandarb is most nastiest person i have ever meet" ---MartinWalker's words of ineffable wisdom.

dang. i was planning on gettin this. GI said it was solid and good like u did but the loads r a joke and the voice-overs are horrible. so im 50/50 on this one. i will prolly buy it if i have an extra 50 bucks laying round from working. but if i see a better game out there that is worth than this one is gonna go on hold for me.idk. thx for the info though.

Is it just me or is "Tears of Blood" the worst title for a video game, ever? Sounds like the name of some crappy emo/gawth CD.
To be honest, the garbage title is one of the main factors keeping me completely uninterested about this game (the bad reviews its been getting haven't helped either). It's a shame, since I was one of the people looking forward to this ever since the Phantom Avalanche import hype started on Neo. ------------------- Monday Night iMPACT!

I agree that the camera angle is bad, but if you are in DETECT MODE, you can see the enemies before they see you; in the mini map you will see a red marker that show the enemy and the direction he is facing, you can get FIRST STRIKE in 90% of the battles - it add some challenge and strategy (you have to time right when to move and get first strike) to the game, you have to agree that is a lot better than have random battles....
In battle you don't have to wait for the bar to fill, you can just use some talismans and finish the battle in one or two turns in most battles... I know that talismans can be expensive, but there is some cheap ones that can be use like A4: Lovely Breeze (CHA +20 to all)[W1 + H6}, since the base talismans are cheap, and also you will get many W1 / H6 from enemy drops. Later in the game you can use L7: Unrivaled Strength (CHA +30) and I8: The Way Things Were (CHA -30 to Enemies), since those 2 talismans give you total control over the Leadership Bar, even in boss battles. Even so voice acting is not perfect, the real problem with this great and solid game is the loading times, they are terrible, there is laoding for everything, to change areas, to start a battle, to finish a battle..... Overall is a good game, and it does not deserve some of the bad reviews, especially reviews that try to compare it to games in the FF series....

quote Fifth ColumnIN the PAL release, it wasn't even given a subtitle. However, the term relates to the organisation the main character leads which is called Tears of Blood as the group consists of people that have lost thier loved ones to the enemy forces and thus want revenge and will do anything to get it. Quite fitting, really. ------------------- I want your love. And I want your revenge

After playing for at least 3 hours, I stopped playing and never touched it again. But I want to finish it and get it over with just because.
I actually thought it would be a great title like War Of The Genesis and/or Magna Carta: Phantom Avalanche, but well, it's good to have the Artbook. =P ------------------- ![]() "His Chin looks like Balls, you want me to cover that too?"

I'll just comment on this because I felt the EXACT SAME WAY! The sequel is now coming out. Why would I show interest towards a game when professional game developers break an obvious rule?

A lot of games used fixed camera angles though. Admittedly, they do it right.
I never had much of a problem though, as when I went through the various environments, I used the walk feature (Sure it was a lot slower, but at least you never got ambushed!). ------------------- I want your love. And I want your revenge

Fixed camera angles are fine, so long as it allows you to see where you're going. Instead, this game gives you horrible vision and to top it off, running into enemies that you can't see initiates a battle.

But if you use the walk feature, with your sword sheathed, none of the enemies can ambush you. You can ambush them, if I remember correctly.

If you have your sword out, you will get a even fight if they run at you, or first strike if you walk up to them and attack. Since you can't see them (you need to wait until their back is turned to attack), they will most likely see you first and run at you, making it an even fight.
Basically, getting first strike is near impossible because you are not able to creep up from behind. ------------------- Twilight in a nutshell: The story of a young woman's choice to practice either bestiality or necrophilia.
