Angry Rant: The AEK-971

I know I'm going to catch alot of **** for this, but this gun is such a pain in the arse.

I know that there aren't any overpowered guns in BF3, but you can't argue that there are some guns that are just easy to get kills with. There is a difference.

I lose to the AEK-971 in 95% of gun-fights, close-medium range. Doesn't matter if I have the so called "counter assault rifles" like the Famas or F2000, I lose. And, I don't suck.

I've lost multiple times to these things while using the 870 with buckshot point-blank. I get sprayed to death before I can even realize what's happening.

I don't use the assault class often, usually just when I'm upset on Metro. With the AUG or AK-74m I can do pretty well. With the AEK-971, I can destroy everyone. I know people who admit that they are terrible at this game, but still do well with it.

I never thought it would come to this, but after my last few games spent getting destroyed by 5 or 6 Colonel lvl 20's with AEKs, I have ranted for the world to see.

Exactly. I know that those Lvl 100 guys are good, but I still get upset when I'm killed over and over again by them and their 100+ service star AR.

I honestly applaud people who kill me with terrible weapons. A guy was murdering me on Metro using a PP-19. I messaged him after the match and told him he was a really good player and added him as a friend.

I think it's just the Assault class in general that is getting stale. Everyone wants to be able to heal themselves and everyone wants those points for revives. I really dislike the fact that I can get the most kills, play the objective better than anyone, help out the team the most, and still rank 5th on my team in points. The assault guys just sit there and revive anyone no matter what. I've seen assaults revive the same person 7 or 8 times, even though that person died immediately as they were revived. That medic still got 800 points for revives, even though the poor guy died he was constantly reviving. 800 points. Thats 4 flag caps. 8 kills. 80 spot assists. 80 resupplys. 4 vehicles disabled.

My point is, I don't like how medics can do nothing teamwork wise and still end up MVP. Getting massive amounts of kills and repeatedly picking up teamates only matters in TDM.

Again agreed here. For the next game i'd put the defrib pack and the medikit in the same slot. That way medics can either heal their team, or revive them. Not both.

Really bogs a game down when medics just constantly revive everyone. Especially when they dont bother clearing the enemies first. Totally irritating. Boring.

Or I'd possibly make it that you cant revive someone until the guy who killed them is dead. Maybe.

Well I just found more proof to back up my original post.

Canals TDM, wasn't doin so well and then I picked up a guys AEK when I ran out of ammo. Iron sights, foregrip, and heavy barrel. Went on a 26 killstreak. Died from a random grenade.

I was destroying 870 and M1014 users point blank. Even though the server called for "no shotguns". The guy with the M1014 was a level 100 with 100 service stars on that shotgun. I'm pretty sure he would have known how to use it by then.

I haven't used the AEK since my pre-colonel days. No recoil, even with heavy barrel. Rediculous ROF, 900 I think. Best iron sights by far. And it wasn't limited to medium-close range. I shot a couple crane campers from the opposite spawn.

What. The. Hell.

JBH I dunno exactly "HOW" powerful it is. But i couldnt ever say it was "pretty shit". Unless it was even better before, it must have been the most OP weapon in FPS history if thats the case.

How are you playing? On small maps and in close/medium engagements its an absolute monster. It does beat most other weapons other than a real decent bolt action or pump slug shot.

I found it lacking at range however. But then i didnt even try the burst setting. Was on CQB TDM maps so didnt need it.

KR_1250, that would probably be it. I rarely play on smaller maps these days, the gun use to excel even on really large maps.

That being said, come to think of it I did play Metro last night and got a 63-8 game of Conquest with the P90 and I saw no one else using it... Maybe it's still good on 360 haha.

^ I took this as you saying the gun was overpowered, but yeah fair enough. For the record and on a more positive note I think that half health rule for revives is genius.
