	Ok then, so, let's see. You seem to be under the impression that snipers should be more powerful, they should be useful in close quarters, and the game isn't good because they aren't. Get out. Look dude I don't even have BF3 yet but I know that this is a pile of horse shit. You want the game to be more like COD, with it's quickscopers and all that. If an enemy sneaks up on you while you're sniping, you're doing something wrong. Battlefield and COD are completely different. You can't compare them. One is a high adrenaline knee jerk twitch shooter. They create the game to have the most action in it at any one point. This is why there are choke points, narrow hallways, superhuman perks, kill streaks, rewards for being good. If you're not good? Now they have point streaks, continuous kill streaks, all that jazz. In MW3, it seems that at any one time way too many people are going to be completely overpowered. The specialist class, for example. You kill one person, you gain a perk, which helps you kill another, until you have every single perk and if you're halfway decent you'd be unstoppable. However, Battlefield is completely different. Large, open maps. Tanks. Slightly enhancing specifications. These maps are made for you to be able to manoeuvre in a tank and flank the enemy. Need to get somewhere? Is it heavily defended? In COD you'd just throw yourself at it, even if you have a sniper, until everyone's down and you can move forward. In Battlefield? Why, you could lay down some suppressing fire while someone else takes them out, you could flank them with a vehicle, you could drop a squad behind them with a chopper, you could use a UAV, anything. COD is about reflexes and aim. Battlefield is about tactics and selection of classes and vehicles and teamwork and skill. COD gives you the sense of adrenaline and excitement. Battlefield gives you the sense of success and pride in your skills. This is from someone who's played a fair bit of Call of Duty, who is somewhat decent, and has played a fair bit of Battlefield, and is slightly more decent at that. 	mm.. i'll do it myself (if it allows me to delete my other posts) unlocking the silencer on a sniper is a definate (+), i see now though that sniping is (40%) hassling people, and mainly killing sniper's, having a silencer means they dont know where to hide .. conquest.. you can only play a few of the maps with a sniper.. RUSH!!; you can play with a sniper in "atleast" one point of any given map. turns out getting headshots isnt "as" hard as thought, with an svd/mk11, you have to double tap, getting used to the time it take's to "re-scope" is essential, but it only works against people who're camping, or sniping themself's. and getting a bi-pod and silence is a +. bi-pod allows you to practically hold your breath indefinately, and silencer.. well that's obvious..

Even in Bad Company 2, it was a OHK if you were close enough. Again, damage should be determined by distance. If I'm 25m away, there's no way a guy is surviving a bullet to the chest. I see your point but in all fairness in BC2 once you got used to it you could pick off head shots while people where running with a well timed shot it just needs practice and the fact that no one could survive a .50 is like saying a single shot from any bullet to the head or heart will kill a person but however I do agree they need at least one OHK sniper even if it requires upgraded ammo or like the .50 is loud giving away your position.

	Lets look at this objectively and from a more "real life" perspective. I realize that these are games and are in no way " real", but with FPS developers saying they want to capture a "more realistic gaming experience" as we have heard in many interviews with game developers; I cant help but hold them to it: I have heard all the arguments about weapons in games and what their real-life counterparts may or may not be capable of, but at the end of the day, high-power sniper rifles are designed for one purpose: Getting the job done quick, easy, and from a safe distance. I personally be lieve it would not hurt to have at least one bolt-action rifle to have a one shot kill, so as long as the target is hit center-mass or head (given). Its not going to cause imbalane, especially if that rifle is only made available to elite snipers who have prestiged at least twice. That way you dont have 8yr olds and noobs running around with big-boy-toys, from the get go. Its not going to hurt.

	I like the way the sniping in BF3 is, probably because im not a sniper HAH. And im OK with snipers getting OHK's, as long as my M240 firing the same 7.62mm NATO bullet gets OHK's at the same ranges also. :-D

Which I suppose is an okay compromise, considering most 'snipers' tend to stay back and shoot from the spawn, which is counter-productive. I guess being up-close is playing more aggressively. -------------------

But then barrell length, bullet grain and propelant type come into things, but all i mean is if a sniper wants an EZ mode one shot kill im all for it, but in a game this realistic i want one aswell using a similair weapon. And Machienzo, theres no real need to take that attitude. Some people like Rudeboy and I have a genuine interest in weapons, we are not commenting to be awkward or smartarsed. In all honesty i think BF3 is a great game for sticking to realism anyway and i fully support the way most weapons are currently balanced, even if it bends the realism to some degree. However, what i dont want is them bending realism at others expense just to please one group of players. I wouldnt support that. Some people play these militairy shooters and dont care or want to know about the real weapons, and thats absolutely fine, but the developers of the BF games go that extra step to stay true to reality as much as possible, especially when compared to other FPS games and people like me appreciate that even if others dont. I dont have contempt for either group and fail to see why anyone is being concieted by bringing it up.

I suppose it sort of confuses me when people bring up the specific bullet type for the weapon when they enter an argument over weapon damage or suppression, which feels a little bit stupid considering the obvious that; it's a game in which is balanced for online competitive multiplayer. Your posts however did jog my memory of how many youtube videos with commentary I've seen that put so much emphasis on bullet type for BF3. -------------------

	^ Unfortunately it kind of comes with the territory when developers keep mentioning realism. Like i said, I understand and support weapon balancing. BF3 has the balance just right. Us folk who like realistic weapons and have an interest are satisfied, whilst the game stays fun for everyone. I just dont want that balance being tipped in favour of one playstyle. Just to get back on topic, i'd enjoy this game alot less if snipers were OHK, and more so, i'd have absolutely no respect for the snipers as it would basically remind me of call of duty style EZ mode point/click sniping. I am sort of in awe of really good snipers on BF3, some have real proper skill. I think this would be greatly degraded by an OHK sniper rifle, and i would definately want to see every other gun somewhat buffed as a result.
