Similar to Symphonia?

See it is very different from the older games like symphonia but that doesn't make it worse then them. They have their big difference but also their similarities. So I would say get it if you are a fan.

you will enjoy the game but will probably find it more challenging than symphonia bc come on galf beast was the shiz. it is the same battlefield style rpg however rather than use mp everyone basically gets a set amount of cc to use different combos in different ways or to dodge and such. the cc is pretty much a stamina bar. u dont collect creatures but it comes with a party of much better thought out main characters (in terms of fighting).
