Ridiculed for decades, this bad-box-art Mega Man character was going to even be in that cancelled Mega Man Universe game with Ryu (Street Fighter) and Arhtur (Ghosts 'n Goblins) and the other iterations of the Blue Bomber. Some may take it as an insult to Mega Man, but to me it seems like Capcom is just having a little fun. A stoic, ultra-serious Mega Man X would would not fit, and a "classic" Mega Man would be annoyingly short like those two cat mascots, Toro and Kuro. This 1987 Mega Man seems like a good fit.

Xbox Excluded

The other side of this is Xbox gets none of the five bonus characters, or even a set to match. According to an interview over at Xbox360Achievements.org, Capcom originally planned on including Xbox exclusive characters as well. Yoshinori Oni said “we were in discussions with them (Microsoft) for which character to put in as an exclusive, but we weren’t able to decide on a character because of differences in timing and things like that.” As for what characters were being talked about, Ono said “In terms of characters we wish we could have put in the game, Master Chief or Marcus Fenix from Gears of War would have been really cool, but it was just really difficult.”

He then went on to confirm that the Xbox 360 version of the game will have no console exclusive characters whatsoever. “Unfortunately for Street Fighter X Tekken, only the PlayStation family will be getting the exclusive characters, but it’s something we wish could have happened,” Ono said. “It’s just too bad, basically.”

All that business with the X-Box definitely feels like a repeat of what happened with Mortal Kombat not getting an X-Box exclusive.

That leaked roster is looking accurate so far especially with the recent reveals of characters like Juri and Paul. Looking forward to seeing the others officially confirmed.

Wow, what's gotten into Capcom lately? They neglect Mega Man time and time again and then when they finally bring him into a new game, they put in the boxart version of him? Come on now. I wanted to see Mega Man in his normal look. Oh well, I'm still getting the PS3 version of this game anyway.

There used to be a ton of Mega Man games, why? Because Inafune was around for them. Now that he's not, Capcom is shitting all over him. Why isn't Mega Man, the MOST requested character in MvC3, in the game? Why is this joke of a Box Art character a guest in SF x T? They have five guest characters, five, on the Sony consoles. If they managed to get Mega Man for SF x T over a year ago (yes, that's when Ono talked to Inafune about this Mega Man being in the game), then why didn't they give us the blue guy in MvC3? Or at least UMvC3? No, instead they put him in a background stage out of sheer trolling.

I was born in the '80s, and this is my complaint. When you got into the Mega Man series is irrelevant. If you're a fan, your voice is just as valid as the next person. It's news after news of burning what we loved about Mega Man. Yeah, see, you mentioned it yourself. They are neglecting Mega Man now that Inafune is gone. Universe and Legends 3 were BIG titles, hell with 3 they were even holding contests, getting the fans involved into the project, it was wonderful. All that's gone now. Why are these games cancelled? What is the reasoning behind it? There is none. They had the support, the team, literally everything planned out to make these games.

I'm more annoyed at the handling of Mega Man since Inafune's departure more than this box art version entering the game. I could care less, he's just a guest character, after all, my argument lies within the overall handling of a staple Capcom-branded character. We need to wake up and see the truth, after what's occurred in just one year: Mega Man is becoming the next Sonic.

The creator leaving was the first hole dug. Capcom announced that the team would continue the projects. Then months later, both were scrapped. No one got involved? Legends 3 was in development. It's a big title in the sense that people have been asking for it for years, and well Inafune wanted to do one as well, but had various other obligations to fulfill. But their reasoning behind the cancellations were poor. Most of the time, when Capcom releases a statement, it's poor. They need to hire better writers it seems. xD

That's just a form of petition. Even if they get the 100,000 that doesn't guarantee the project will resume. Look at all the 'Stop SOPA/PIPA/ACTA' petitions. Those bills affect us as a whole and the highest a petition got was about 13 million, a small margin compared to how many use the net and were aware. And the MM9/10 numbers exceeded Capcom's expectations, a clear sign of support for the franchise.

You're right, a creator leaving can truly halter things, but it wasn't a sudden act. He left professionally, giving notice and such. Whereas you have things like Team Ninja's group being screwed over bonuses, Itagaki losing his position, and yet Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden have releases later this year. Infinity Ward lost its creators, and yet Modern Warfare 3 was brought out, anyway. Yes, IW has more fans, but eh, just an example of creators gone from a project.

It seems like they don't want nothing to do with Megaman anymore. You know if they don't like him anymore, they should just give his rights to another company.

Most people are saying send him to SEGA. Or send him to Namco and trade him for Xenosaga to Capcom.

Why are they playing Megaman. He's pretty much the face of Capcom and it would be really stupid if they were to give him away.

Megaman, Ryu, Chun-Li, and Morrigan are pretty much the faces of Capcom.
