Not at all.

In fact in the games, Silent Hill 1 and Silent Hill 2 have nothing to do with each other except for the town itself.

Silent Hill 1 and 3 are direct sequels but Silent Hill 2 and 4 are not directly related to any other Silent Hill game.

Silent Hill is a series where the characters aren't the main focus of the game. The town is. The town is what makes Silent Hill 2 still part of the same series even though 1 and 3, or 4 don't directly connect with it.

Obiviously that's not to say that the characters don't matter, because without the crazy characters it wouldn't be Silent Hill.


But aside from that... I think it would be great to completely recreate Silent Hill 2 basically as Gaming Geezer said.

Silent Hill 2 is my favorite Silent Hill, it's the most complete and it's just fantastic in every facet. It's very cinematic too, with a storyline that doesn't need retooling for the movies really either.

Silent Hill 1 the game though did need quite a bit of retooling I think. So the movie would(and clearly was) more difficult to make. Silent Hill 1 was quite vague I must say.

Silent Hill 2 is much easier to understand but still has all of the trademark uncertainty that all Silent Hill games have, just not to the extent of SH1.

Well they don't need to clear up anything from the first movie, Silent Hill is each persons own individual hell.

Sean Bean's hell could be very different than his wife and daughters. As seen in the first movie, he just walked through Silent Hill and it was fine.

One thing that's for sure, is that in this next one, we need more isolation. No more help from other people in Silent Hill. We need crazy mother *bleep*ers like Eddie that just creep the viewer out and don't help him along, a character that adds more questions than answers them.

Sean Beans' hell should involve nearly no one else to help him but himself, like in Silent Hill 2, James didn't have much help, everyone around him pretty much made it harder on him, but that was because of the kind of person James was, his character created the world around him.

How has Silent Hill not chosen him?

It's taken away the two things he cares about most! If that's not an example of Silent Hill luring him in, then I don't know what is.

Granted yes, the movies don't have to be connected at all, but your statement that it hasn't chosen him is utterly absurd.
