are you really a fan of the hulk or are you watching it for play-fun. Let me tell you something, the movie as far as the producers are concerned is made for the viewing pleasure of the comic fans as well as action movie fans. If you have no affiliation with the movie in either action or movie-wise, i suggest you stop spoiling the fun of the comic fans who are yet to see the movie

I'm looking for something original - action, comedy, or even shit - as long as it's friggin original...

Am I thinking in the right direction?

[edit] - just noting that I don't know jack about the comic. Just that some radiation makes some previous researcher become the hulk when he's angered. I also know there were several series over the years for the hulk and he goes back a very long way (late 70's early 80's or something like that - when effects weren't so fabulous as they are today)

I was a hater on Ang Lee.

For the length of the movie, 2 hours, 18 minutes, I think everyone was expecting just a little more in the action department than the roughly 25-30 minutes of hulk that we got.

The story with the regular actors dragged on for what seemed like an eternity before you get to the real action.

It was my personal opinion, that since Ang Lee knew nothing of the comic book character, and had no interest in making an action film, that he wasnt the best man fot the job. Perfect example, AT NO TIME, EVER, was the Hulk calm. If he were to ever calm down, even for a second, he would begin to revert back to Bruce Banner. So, for instance, His scene with Betty, hiding behind the tree, kneeling before her, and setting her up on the car never would have happened. The staring contest he had with the rocks out in the desert before the Choppers showed up, and his flashback scene in approaching his old home were COMPLETELY out of character. When Bruce became the Hulk, it was pure RAGE that drove him. He never stopped rampaging as the hulk, and when he did finally pause in his mayhem, he reverted back to Bruce Banner.

That is the problem with a guy who has no idea of the background of the character he is working with. This was more along the lines of "KING KONG" type story than that of The Incredible Hulk.

It goes from the comic being the outlook of "Hey, Bruce saved that kid, now he becomes the Hulk and rampages out of control," to, "Awwww, poor Bruce. His daddy was a nutbar and messed with him, now he's a monster and let's feel sorry for him." But as I said, I place that blame squarely on the shoulders of the writer, James Schamus, damn his eyes.

Then I watched the DVD extras where Ang lee met with the members of ILM with a HUGE notebook of Hulk stuff that he wanted, and ILM told him that there was no way that they could do it all. In the end, the Hulk action in the film is barely 1/4 of what Ang lee had intentionally planned to put in the film.

So, Ang is off the hook in my book, but Story writer James Schamus is still a moron for altering the original comic book story, and completely excluding the Rick Jones character, one of the most important characters in the history of HULK. If it werent for Bruce saving Rick Jones' life in the comics, he never would have been hit with the backblast of the Gamma Bomb and turned into the hulk.

So basically,

Ang Lee= Did a pretty good job for what he was given, a half ass story and really had his hands tied with the CGI expenses.

James Schamus= Complete IDIOT, should be dragged out into the street, tortured, and shot for the mangling that he laid onto the origin and story of the Hulk.

Just check out a few Hulk books. You will see how changed the movie is due to Schamus' mangling of the backstory.

As a casual fan, or just watching a movie, the Hulk movie seems like a pretty good film.

But if you were a true Hulk purist, and hate when Movies get changed from the Books, then you would understand why a lot of people are pissed off at this attempt at a Hulk movie.

I just rented the Hulk on video yesterday, its really cool I give it a 8/10

Yeah, but in the comics...after Bruce would "Hulk" out, he'd disappear for months, how the hell do we know what he did during that time span? For all we know, he stood outside Betty's window and/or stared at rocks all day until he became calm again.

I had only seen this movie in bits and pieces, but finally got around to watching the entire thing tonight.

I thought it was actually really good. The action scenes were dynamite, especially the dog fight and when those fighter jets were attacking Hulk. Haha, my favorite scene in the entire movie had to be when Hulk just punched his fist right through that dogs head, and then slammed it into the ground.

I really didnt think there was too much talking, but, I felt a few key moments could have been done better. When Banner is first hit with the gamma rate, setting off the change within, I thought they could have filmed it better. The entire event was just lackluster and melodramatic. And at the end of the film, when he goes up against his father, that fight was just boring. Hell, you really couldnt even see the father during the fight. I know it was because he was "unstable" in the transformation, but still, I expected more.

Still, I thought the acting was decent enough, and overall, I really liked the film.
