Was Apocalypse THAT Much of a Success That TWO More Sequels Are In The Works?Resident Evil 4 Already in the WorksquoteJune 13, 2005 - According to today's The Hollywood Reporter, Germany's Constantin Film and its genre production company, Paul W.S. Anderson and Jeremy Bolt's Impact Pictures, are preparing for a fourth installment of their successful "Resident Evil" franchise before the third film in the series has even begun shooting.
Constantin head of production Martin Moskowicz said that the third film, Resident Evil: Afterlife, will shift locations to shoot in Australia, with principle photography planned for November or December.
Resident Evil 4 will be set in Tokyo, and Impact/Constantin is looking to shoot the film in Japan. "Afterlife" will be set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun with mutant zombies. The film will play in the Nevada desert with the Aussie outback standing in for the American wasteland. In the final reel, the action will shift to Japan, setting up the fourth edition.
Milla Jovovich is set to reprise her signature role as Alice though no formal deal has been signed yet. Paul W.S. Anderson is finishing the script for the third edition. He directed the first Resident Evil and wrote the sequel Resident Evil: Apocalypse.

The first two movies were complete pieces of shit. A total disgrace to the video game series, and that whole Alice character....What the *bleep* is up with her? I don't get it. I mean, "Project Alice?"
The first movie was bad, and it just got worse with the second. The crew has no idea what they're doing. Honestly, I would have loved these movies to be EXACTLY like the video games. They had to mess everything up though.
I could care less about a third and fourth movie, I'm not even gonna watch em.

I liked both of them but I never played the games. I know almost all the plots in the video games cause my friend is totally into Resident Evil. He hates Alice and the fact that the movie didn't stick to the game as well.
Personally I thought would be kinda hard to make the movies like the video games, because the games had all those odd fights with giant sharks or mutant plants in the bottom of mansions. The movie just seems like it was easier to understand the way it was. Of course the Project Alice thing was just confusing.

Well, to those Resident Evil fanboys who don't like the movies: Lighten up ! The movies are good if you don't look at them with a narrow-minded view that only sees the video games. You must see the limitations of videogames and movies alike, both are equally good and correct in their own way.

Well I for one am an RE fanboy that thinks the movies have done a REALLY shit job at portraying the games. I even tried looking at them from a different perspective than just thinking "this is meant to be the games Resident Evil" and at that point I realized the movies aren't too bad, BUT THEN it occured to me that why the *bleep* would I try to NOT look at these films as Resident Evil? They're based on the damn games afterall, and they've completely *bleep*ed up the RE Universe. You CANNOT take something as huge as Jill defeating Nemesis that is a STABLE PLOTLINE to the RE Universe and change it around to make your MADE-UP character suddenly fall in love with the monster while he fights ALONGSIDE Jill! Crap like that is just wrong. Anderson *bleep*ed this series up. I know we're meant to look at it "as something entirely new" but I think if a REAL writer got the rights to this movie, then NOT ONLY would we NOT have to look at it as something new, but it would probably have been a lot cooler too.
This 4th movie... I don't even want to think about it...

I thought it was much more difficult to understand. There was nothing wrong with the original RE storyline. Would you really have complained if they followed the first game EXACTLY in the movie? I thought it would have kicked ass, with the characters searching through the mansion, fighting dogs and killer plants, a mutated snake, hunters, and then ending with a battle against Tyrant. That would have rocked.

Well I played several of the games but I still watch the movies as movies not as games which is what you lot seem to want. Movies and games can never be really similar without being poor adaptions.
I like how they havent felt the need to stick to the games story so much.
The first 2 movies were pretty good I thought, I enjoyed them but that may be because I am a fan of zombie movies in general.

So are they trying to pull off some George Lucas sh*t by releasing the 4th movie before the 3rd? Maybe it will work out better if they do. I have a nuetral opinion on the movies. They are good movies, but they are nothing like the game. I could go on and on about it...but I'm choosing not to.

Ugh, what a horrible idea. The RE movies are a total disgrace to the videgames. It is almost embarrasing. IMO, the movies would be fine if they closely followed the videogame story line. Instead they take it in a new and horrible direction. In Japan, Resident Evil is known as Biohazard. Does anybody else thinks that some director with actual talent and respect for the games (and their fans)can practicly remake the Resint Evil series, but under the name Biohazard? What would the legalies with the be?

Old bumps ftw. quoteNo Fourth Resident Evil Source: Sony Pictures December 15, 2006
About a year-and-a-half ago, it was reported that Constantin Film and Impact Pictures had already started work on a fourth "Resident Evil" before the third installment, Resident Evil: Extinction, opening September 21, 2007, had even started shooting.
As the new synopsis for "Extinction" indicates, that is no longer the case. The plot summary for "Extinction" labels the film as "the third and final installment."

Oh FFS i saw the 2nd one last night.
What a *bleep*ing poor film, i must have blacked out at certain parts of the games involving kung-fu fighting against zombies and flying around, nemesis going good and the utter cockyness of it.
I hate it!

I would say its pretty difficult to take the video games and apply it directly to the screen... But, if I EVER see nemisis holding hands with the "hero" I will scream.. RE3 was so cool when you actually got freaked when nemisis went, "STTAAARS" and immediately chased you... (and don't tell me you choose to fight him either) that part made me wanna throw my dots at the screen...
