Mission: Impossible 3, which has been plagued by director problems, is out, and War of the Worlds, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Cruise, is in. The studio said Wednesday that instead of beginning production on "M:I-3" this summer, as had been originally planned, Cruise will instead go directly into Spielberg's modern-day adaptation of the H.G. Wells classic about a Martian invasion of Earth. "War," which has been in development for some time, will begin filming in November for a release sometime next year. Cruise hasn't abandoned "M:I-3," though. It will now shoot next summer, with J.J. Abrams, creator of the TV series Felicity and Alias, set to make his feature directorial debut. Spielberg also hit a roadblock with a drama he was readying to shoot about the aftermath of the 1972 Munich Summer Olympics. With that project delayed while it undergoes a rewrite by Tony Kushner, Spielberg's schedule opened up. David Koepp (Spider-Man, Panic Room) wrote the "War" script. Spielberg and Cruise previously teamed up for blockbuster Minority Report. bleeping awesome... this is just what I've been waiting for - a War of the Worlds remake; with Spielberg at the head, no less! For those of you not yet aquainted with H. G. Wells' book, I seriously recommend checking it out, since it absolutely kicks ass. This should definitely turn out to be an interesting flick, and one that has quite a lot of potential to turn out to be a summer blockbuster for next year (assuming no delays are encountered). ------------------- BOO YOU HEEL

	"bleeping awesome" pretty much sums it up. I loved the book and I wondered if there would ever be a modern-day remake. Speilburg directing if a huge plus already. I think I'll keep track of this one.

	Hmm.. David Koepp is down for writing the screenplay we worries me slightly. I enjoyed his screenplay for Jurassic Park although it was changed from the source material but I found his scripts for Panic Room and Spider-man mediocre. Secret Window is rather weak. I wouldn't consider myself the biggest Spielberg fan but is there really any need to remake this film aside from making money? ------------------- Hello

	Just so some of you know, the teaser comes out this Friday. To watch it go to the official film site: waroftheworlds.com. Not sure which film it will be attached to (if any) at the cinema so the safest bet would be to just click the link. I can't wait to view it; I've been waiting a while now to see Spielberg's take on this film. -------------------

	I can't say I'm over-thrilled about this. Yes, it all sounds good, but we've already had something of a new WOW. Independance Day. Yes, the plot was only loosely based on the book, but the main features were there. And now they're making another film based on the book it seems a little obselete, especially as Indepenance Day was so good. 	Hopefully it will be better than "The Time Machine" remake but with Spieldberg and TC onboard, I'm sure it will be pretty good.

	Does anyone here know that there's also another remake being made now, set to release a few months before this one? The only real difference is that this one is staying true to the book by being set in London in the late 1800's. ------------------- I cried when I had no shoes. But seriously, it shows a lot of different locations where events will no doubt unfold during the film (London, France), though I should imagine the main cast will be in the USA. It's being filmed in New York and Virginia, to my knowledge... I watched the trailer too and I'm sold. Let it be known that I'm a sucker for 'big movies' with the special effects, so long as the storyline is in place. 	I just saw the trailer for this and well.. I can't help but feel a little disappointed. Firstly, where is Horsell Common? That and I think it's a bit dull to have the film set in modern day, what would set it apart from all the other "aliens take over the world, America saves us all" films would be if they set it when the book is set. It would be far more interesting to see a less technologically advanced time try and cope with the Martian invasion. I did like that the used the first lines from "Eve of the War" though... oh well, I'll probably see the film anyway out of curiosity as I like the book (well, I'm half way through it, so what I've read so far ) but still.. ------------------- NOW KISS
